There are as many variations of the Johnson Rod as there are phishies in the sea.
I always thought the ol' resistor type is still the best.

If I read Streets original question correctly, he is askin about the views on the adjustment of the conical ceramic Johnson Rods. Yes, the old resister type are a tad better, only because of the warm-up time. Ya don't want to get them Rods warmed up too fast or they'll bend for sure.

Welcom to the club Gorn. Nice to see someone still runs a real camaro. oh, and pro60, What are you talking about? the conical johnsons are the best. Due to their rounded sides, they take heat transferrance a lot better than the resistor. Thats why AMC V12s took em!

You guyz er' both forgettin the resistor style came out with an oil bath upgrade in the early 70'z that cured all but the most severe heat transferance problems. Must I remind you of the rule change in the early 70'z @ the "Great Race", when ALL carz' were required to use the new resistor style oil bath Johnson Rod, because if it's safety and reliability.

Sorry, my rule book was burned in a fire, but I think I remember getting a notice on that upgrade. Wasn't it a supplement, printed on YELLOW paper? I do remember it suggested not to use the adjustable style resistor. And didn't that upgrade also mention the fact that you must use non-pourus, non-choloric 11-15 oil? Man that suff was hard to find for a while.

    You're it.

If my memory serves me correctly, I don't think J. Johnson ever had a daughter. he was too much into perfecting his now famous Johnson Rod to bother with females.

I believe he had a son who was estranged from the family.
I actually met the lad once....
I asked his name as I thought by lookin' at him he may be related to the Johnsons. (He has their nose.)
Well..... He jumped up out of his stroller in a huff N' said...............
    You can call me Ray............
    You can call me Jay..............
You can call me Ray, Jay...............
But ya' doesn't need ta' call me Johnson!!!!
After his lil' rant he did break down N' say he wuz' Ruutin' Tuutin' Kanuutin' On the Johnson side.
Ya' know..... I thought I recognized that nose.
