    Welcome to CHR! Lots happening in the SBC world with all the new versions from the factory, and lots of aftermarket support for playing with them. Thing is CA seems to be leading the charge against the evil hot rodders, so you have the challenge of building what you want, and then getting it past the bureaucracy of the DMV and emissions rules....

    Thanks, glad to be here. I don't see much change in the short block area, but I do see much better cylinder heads, induction and ignition systems now than what was available then.

    As I understand it for California now, 1974 and earlier vehicles are exempt from smog regulations in this state and have been for several years.
