Welcome to CHR site and man that is one very nice project and what you have accomplished so far is excellent, love it also. It looks like you started with a very clean VW body wise, and I could imagine twin pipes (exhaust) simalar to the original out the back.
I will be following along with your build as I too love the old VW's.
I maybe a little crazy but it stops me going insane.

Thanks for the nice remarks. Yeah, this was a California car I bought some years ago that my youngest son and I were going to build. It had a blown engine and trannie and said in a grarage her in Missouri for about 5 years. I bought it, we totally disassembled it and it sat in my garage for about another 12-15 years. Both sons are married, have kids and live in two different states. I told my wife, now I am going to build it the way I want it. Oughta be a good little grocery getter for her, huh? Here are a couple of pictures of another '69 VW that my oldest boy, who will be 38 this year, built when he was a senior in high school. It is powered by a reworked, 4cylinder Porsche engine. Quick little ride,. Yep, I have that in my garage too.

You are so right about retirement. We love it. Say, I see you are from Michigan. My wife and I lived there,Sault Ste Marie, many, many ears ago (1965-1967)while I was stationed at Kincheloe A.F.B. with the 449th Bomb Wing,SAC before going overseas. Was just up there,in the U.P., visiting and camping this past fall.
