Welcome BJ,
Just to throw a cat among the pidgeons, over here in Australia, we had Ford 'Coupe Utes' which had suicide doors, and it started in '34. They were a response to a farmers wife requesting a vehicle which they could drive to church on Sunday, and Pigs to market on Monday,
