Rspears, welcome to CHR!! I'm trying to ignore Don's comment about people here being "old as dirt". Build what ever you like. Not sure what living in the Midwest has to do with a roadster though. You don't need no stinkin' roof. I currently live in the cold and snowy (not yet thank God) north and my car has no heater. Sure it gets cold in January, but hey, hotrodding is suppose to be about marginal comforts. So build the roadster, get some long johns and a good rain slicker and head out on the highway.

You could always do what the Beemer boys do here in the East in February. Drop the top, roll up the windows, put on a down coat, ear muffs, gloves, scarf, turn the heater on full blast and head on down the interstate to work. Purists Who are they kidding???

Actually I am considering building a highboy roadster after I retire. Only difference between your desire and mine, is I plan on doing it after relocation to FLORIDA!!!!! You might want to consider doing the same. If you really like the Midwest, you could always be a snowbird. Florida could always use one more snowbird. Ain't that right Don???

You are closer to truth than you know - my wife is already talking about trips to warmer places in a few years. On the roadster, I tried searching but did not find much on side curtains or alternates for roadsters. Are there any innovative ideas on closing in the sides with a soft top & no roll ups in frigid weather? I know that Sid C's bop top has a side curtain option, but at $1k one might wait for spring! Looking for reasons to go roadster vs coupe.
