new guy with new project
I have been wrenching and playing around with cars since high school. I'm 34 and just built a shop for working on my junk. Currently I am the owner of a 1940 Pontiac 2dr sedan and a 45' Willy's MB. Not looking to restore anything, looking to build something fun and exiting. Not sure if the Pontiac is the project I'm really wanting to do. It is currently original with a flat head 6 and does run and drive. May be looking to trade for another project too. I would consider a lot of other cars. I figured this would be a really good site to talk to others interested in wrenching as much as I am.

Welcome. Man, that Poncho is just crying out for a 389-400-455 Pontiac, automatic, air, lowered stance, and some paint. What a great cruiser this would make, and you won't be seeing 10 like you at any cruise in.
Looks really solid. You could have this on the road pretty easy, with a donor car, and selling the old parts off to some restorer. They don't come much cooler than this one. I'd leave all the stock trim with modern underpinnings if it were me.

Welcome to CHR
That pontiac would make a great street rod. It seems to have a lot of the hard to find parts.
Good luck with your project

Learning must be difficult for those who already know it all!!!!
Thanks Glenn, it’s believed to be a Gen 5. 454. I’ll see if I can snap some pics of the stamped and cast numbers and post them here. Maybe we can define the year and model
