    A newbie/tube bender guy

Hey, gang. I live in the Denver area and am a fabricator at my family's shop, which specializes in custom mandrel-bent headers and exhaust, roll cages and "blue oval" modular motor conversions. We have an in-house mandrel bender which brings us lots of cool car projects.

I have a Bantam altered drag car body that was raced in the 60s/70s and am building it back up with a modern Ford DOHC engine. I also have a chopped '51 Ford shoebox project. I like working on hot rods as well as musclecars and am into drag racing; I'm also a tech inspector at Bandimere Speedway. If you're in the Denver area, feel free to come check out the shop and talk cars sometime.

Hi Hank, welcome. Hope you stick around, as it looks like you have a lot to offer others, with your expertise.

Post some pictures when you get a chance, of your projects. I used to run a Bantam altered, so I would love to see yours.

    Welcome aboard, Hank!

We've probably crossed paths a few times at Bandimere. We need you tech guys to keep us honest

Not too many of us Colorado folks on here so we gotta stick together.... sometimes hard to convince others the cars run slower up here

We'd love to see some pics of the Bantam!

Thx for the welcome everyone. Hey, Chris, I think I recognize that Firebird from the races. Here's a pic of the altered before we finished the roll cage...

Ooooooooooooh, now THAT is a motor. What a smart choice of a modern powerplant.

    Love them Bantams.

Welcome to the board Hank. I was the senior tech inspector at Firebird International Raceway in Phoenix from 1990 to 2005. Worked the Nationals and Division 7 races for NHRA 1991 to 1993, Silver certified, National fuel check license. Retired and moved to the north woods of Wisconsin earlier this year. Very glad to have another inspector on the board. Love the power for the Altered.....just too cool.....

Thx, guys. Yeah, I have a thing for those DOHC motors. I'm currently working on a conversion kit to drop them into the Ford '49-'51 shoeboxes.

Richard, this was my first year as an official inspector; I did jr dragsters for a coupla years before this. I'm still learning and want to help with chassis certs next yr. Maybe get to help at the Div 5 race someday.

Beautiful combination... something old, something new, something to scorch the bejeezus out of the pavement

Can't wait to see it roll!
