up and coming builder signing in

Hello, my name's chad... I own a body shop in New Troy michigan,, And were rapidly heading in the direction of restoration/custom work.. I love doing anything that's custom/different, that's how it all started with me. I'm basically hear to meet some new people, learn more about rodding, my true love is building rods from scratch.. fiberglass or steel. Haven't had much of a opportunity to do such but that's where i'm heading.. right now doing work on mini-trucks, i know i know you guys aren't into that, but i'm learning alot about chassis building and air bags.. as far as my personal rides,, i've got a 79 cutlass drag car, completely tubbed and chassis basically complete, just a rolling chassis now, have a 74 charger that is basically all in primer, had to take off the rotisorie to restore a 40 ford pickup for a customer of mine,, but I just picked up a fresh LT1 that i'm hoping to save for my first rod...wanting to do either a duece or a speedstar coupe,, not sure which...whatever I do will be all out.. But i'm here to learn so hopefully if i have questions you guys can help out.. let me know if you guys are interested I could post you some pics of some of my projects, and jobs i have worked on for other people.. anyways,,hello to all..

Stay diversified. Trends change, and you still will want to be in business twenty years from now. Try to do some work in all parts of the auto hobby, on a steady basis, which will keep the flow of business pretty steady too, except during recessions.

I've been doing this for a few decades, and people will very quickly forget you do other types of work, unless they see new projects coming out of your shop.

Yeah as of now we tend to a bunch of different things... collision repair,, custom bike painting, chassis work, air bag suspensions, restorations, and fabrication... We also have auto and tool sales here.. it tends to get hard doing so many different things in one building....lol.. keeps things interesting though... were actually going to add one more business to the operation,, which will be custom car audio and video, so that should be enough to keep me busy.. maybe too much.. although with all the different things to do it makes me more apt to pick and choose the work that I take in, were going for a one stop custom kinda shop.. then I decided that i want to save money on tools and my own vehicles so i opened chad's tool sales, and in progress of opening octane auto sales... so when it's all done and over with there's going to be six business's here. Im going to have to think about getting a good secretary...lol...

but anyways been roaming around the site,, there's alot of usefull information here, i've been enjoying everything here... just not enough time to really sit and check it out like i'd like,, right now just waiting for filler to dry. should be about ready to sand,, catch you all later...
