I put a 383 in my 66 chevy c10. it was the easiest engine swap i've ever done. I installed a tube over the bolt in the mopar mount, and after swaping the chevy mount perches from side to side all i had to do was place the motor - tack the tubes to the perches - unbolt -pull motor - finish welding the tubes - and reinstall engine. It took me about 2 hours to get it mounted in place. If I remember correctly the only clearance issue I had was with the starter, I had to put a small notch in the frame. It might have been the exhaust but I'm pretty sure it was the starter for some reason.
That was about 15 years ago. That 383 really woke up that old pickup. Now I am putting the exact same engine and tranny into my courier. I managed to reaquire the 383 and tranny about 6 years ago from the guy I sold the truck to. So it's been in storage for quite awhile and I just started tearing it down for a rebuild with a stroker crank. The 383 has always been my favorite engine. of course it will really be a 426 wedge when I get it done with it this time.Go ahead and tell me what you think, just don't expect me to change my mind.
