I didn't know you could print templates. I eneded up with 9". I put mine a lot lower trying to find the least curvature in the fender. It looks like the coupe fenders swoop down different in the back. Getting the peak is tricky and getting them the same is even harder. I hope I did both. The first fender I tried to use the mounting plate as a template and cut out the shape so I could just install the lens but that didn't work out so I ended up welding in the plate. I got a little smarter on the other side and made a template the size of the lens and cut it out. It took a little more time to cut out but if it looks the same on the car I won't have all of the welding to do. Did you guys glue your lenses in place? If so what did you use?
Thanks again.Mark Smith

I had them email me a file with the templates. yea it definately looks like my fenders swoop down more than your sedan fenders and on the sedan fenders the peak goes all the way through where as on the coupe fenders the peak flattens out. The coupe fenders might be a little easier to pull this off on because you can get away with being a bit off on the bottom and there's no peak to make it obvious.
I can't remember how the lenses are mounted as it has been close to two years now since they were put in. I thought they were mounted to the housings, but looking at your parts pics I am not sure how that is possible. I don't remember glue though. I'll try and take a look this weekend and let you know.'35 Ford coupe- LT1/T56, '32 Ford pickup, 70 GTO convertible, 06 GTO

This looks really good; did you use welting when you mounted your rear fenders or are those welded on? The whole rear clip looks fantastic!

A little note just in case this gets used for reference down the road. The difference between the two fenders on the shape of the rear portion of the back fenders is a '35/36 thing, not coupe vs. sedan. The '35 had that slight "back flip" shape, the '36 line more of an arch. A subtle difference many don't notice until it's pointed out. Makes it interesting when looking for fenders.
As for the welting thing, opinions go all over the place. Something should be in there to prevent potential squeaks. I have less of an issue with it's use than some, but on some cars I paint it body color which makes it blend in more. Beats all the extra time needed to massage the fender edge to keep any resulting gap without welding from looking wobbly. Body to fender configuration probably has something to do with how much work that would be. A relatively flat quarter panel would make it easier, a complex line like on the '35-6 Ford is more of a challenge. But then there's also the matter of how good is the viewers eye at catching that sort of detail.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon
