Everybody that is currently building a car...

Yeah, I have to keep "shop truck" in mind and not try to get everything perfect. I was just happy the top wasn't rusted through. I guess the 4 coats of paint over the years protected it somewhat. Glad you all like the lights. if the picture in my head comes out right, I think it'll look cool. By the end of the week, i should have all the body panels stripped down to metal. just part of the hood and the doors left. My $39.95 JC Whitney DA sander sounds like it's about to fly to pieces. I'm curious to see if it survives until the end.

Not far to go so we'll see, Brick. I'm down to the last door and I used up my 100 sheet roll of DA paper. Being out of sandpaper sounded like the perfect reason to be sick from work today so I took the day off. Here's where we are; the side of the hood is going to need some hammer and dolly work which I'm NOT very good at. Dave, I sure wish you lived closer. I need some expert advice on this kind of work. I guess I'll pull out my Ron Covell video and give it a shot. I've got the block and heads loaded and I'm going to drop them off at the machine shop on the trip to get more sandpaper today.

Falcon bet you could get a MG done in a couple hours now with all this practice .

Falc...im the under dog rooter fom the get go, so the idea of the I SCREAM truck naturaly grabbed me....yet the more i see ur progress, more specifically, ur RATE of progress AND the QUALITY of same, the more impressive it becomes.... i find myself anticipating th completion much like u might....KUDOS!!!!!!!!!

Thanks guys; I know there's a lot nicer rigs on here than this old box but I doubt anyone is having more fun than I am! I love this stuff, wish I could figure out how to do it for a living. Anyway, on to today's report:
I started putting the new front clip together. I fitted the side and front pieces, marked the headlight and grille location and got those cut. the headlight assemblies are a little narrower than the trim rings so I split them, made some simple angle brackets for mounting, and screwed them to those. I think it came out good; I still need to make a bracket for the bottom but it should be plent sturdy. Spent a lot of time on little stuff; the hood hinges were pop riveted on before but I took some small pieces if steel plate and drilled and tapped them to make an adjustable hood hinge. My wife has been taking some online classes for her degree so I've had a lot of time to kick butt on this lately. More to come tomorrow!

this was a past project I had to sell to finish the current one, wife wouldn`t let me have anymore ( save the whales ) as she calls it....

Front end is really lookin' good, Falcon!!!! The dual headlights really help out the plain jane front end look the van had!!!! Really good plan!


Started putting together a customers "brand new" Chevelle out at the shop today...All the tin is coming from Dynacorn, the dudes that make the 'maro's and Mustangs--seems to be decent stuff, let ya know more as the build progresses...and I'll try to remember to take the camera along and get some current "shop shots" one of these days....

Been on "ignore" status for awhile.... Owner had to save up more money, probably back on it and get it knocked down and the body on the rotissierie next week... Just like most places, money seems to be tight for everyone this winter!!!!!

The dual beams turned out great. What an improvement over the original design. Nice job too!:cool:
