Haven't had time to work on the "Z" lately but I did get a chance to finish up the lettering on a friend of mine's F/C yesterday afternoon. Sorry Dave, it's a blown alky BBC.
I put the name on it after he had it painted towards the end of the season last summer, then it kinda' got sidelined over the winter. I did the lime green accent stripe with one shot enamel. That was a lot easier when I had younger eyes. Everything else was done in vinyl. It will be on display at the Drag Expo in Schaumburg, IL coming up in March, so we wanted to get it finished for that and the upcoming season. He's also been asked to appear at "Pinks All Out" this summer @ Rt. 66. That's a June date I think.

I took the last shot from the opened garage door. Camera picked up the falling snow."PLAN" your life like you will live to 120.

I got a few hours in today; these side braces were pop riveted on so I drilled them out to 1/4", put 1/4-20 bolts in and welded the nuts on the back. I'll use stainless bolts when I put it together for real. Also got the block and heads painted, and finished cleaning up the welds on the piece I made for the center console. There's a ton of room in this thing but I still have the headlight and wiper switch to mount. Maybe I'll put a cigar lighter in to take up some space. I dont want it to look too empty. Ordered all the rebuild parts for the engine so I should be putting it together this week, too.

They also make some really nice looking allen head screws that would look good on the side brace, used a bunch of them on my '71 pickup under the hood for the inner fenderwells, etc. The little things really make a difference... Wouldn't have a nostalgia looking clock to put in the dash, would you????Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Well with all the fires burning I had to cheat . This guy came and worked my 31 at my house . Since then he has moved into a shop . So I took the 37 up there for him to do his sheet metal magic on it .
I will get it back later this year but done and ready to do drive line . I am taking that to him also to set in place all I will do is rebuild it later . I may get one done yet
. He is good , he is fast , and right now I am one of a couple who got in the door first .

Nice looking shop, Bobby! Looks like you picked the right guy to do the work, plus you get the bonus of watching him work on other cool stuff.
Dave, that's a great idea on those screws and I think I know of a good source to get them. I dont have a clock but that's a good idea; I'll see what Evilbay has to offer.
Pro, your lettering looks fantastic! The guy should be really happy with it.Last edited by falconvan; 02-11-2010 at 08:22 PM.

Nice video! Looks like the plan is in motion. Did you say something about chopping it right near the end?
My rebuild kit came in so I hope to assembling an engine this weekend but no garage time until Sunday after church. I've got this thing called Valentines day to attend to. I'm taking my wife to the Patti Labelle and the O-Jays concert at the Fox Theatre in St Louis so I rented this little gem for us to drive tomorrow night.

Yeah he had asked if I wanted a chop . But I dont , it looks too good the way Henry did it . Also If I did chop it , the most would only be 1 1/2 inches is all . So after a short time of thinking I am leaving the roof all alone .

I think you're right to leave it; that car has a beautiful roofline just like it is.
