Looks like a very nice Effie, Joe!!!! Congrats on puttin a Ford in a Ford, and not going with th 350/350 drivetrain like most all seem to do on these old pickups. Should be a nice one when you're done, keep us updated on the progress.

For Mr. Fisher: Yup, did all the mods, including the radio and ashtray delete (a little know rare option in '71**) **) ) and made the panels out of .060 aluminum. Too bad I have to sell it when it's done, need to throw a bunch of $$$$ at the Ranchero and get it setting on all four......

I know about " build sell build sell" Just when you think you got a keeper it starts allover again.:(

Hi guy's the A had a slight t-bone and the body was in a few inches. Now working in home garage I built this wooden contraption to push out the side. Thing is it worked great just moving a bottle jack up and down post pushing in various places. I purchased a door off ebay and the fender came with the car . The original door which is so clean is tweaked . Think i'll build a wooden die and reshape it . Couple quick relief cuts and bend it back. Cross my fingers.

Learning a little heat shrinking and picking on this heavy metal. Really not as hard as it look. I use a Map gas propane bottle normal valve and it controls the heat allmost on it own. It will only heat a area about a inch in diameter which is perfect.

New Heidts Super ride will be in about the 27th. The spindles are on back order. Geez i cant wait and like in previos posting i have done the vaaarrooommm allready (LOL)

hello everybody just wanted to chime in .i have 2 rides to show 1st ride is my dads 41 willys just got out of the paint booth and it turned out awesome and the second car is mine a 69 camaro pro touring just installed new subframe and now doing final fitting before any painting happens. check out those flame what do you think.......:toocool:

I was really put back yesterday when I went out to pick up my finished car and there it sat untouched from the last time I saw it. When asked about the delay I was told that he needed new hood hinges to line everything up right before he could paint. Not having capability of outside comunication I guess, I will have to order them Now and wait another week. I was bummed but thats the way this thing goes alot of the time.

I hate depending on outside shops to do anything. They promise the moon and stars to get you in, but once there the car just sits and collects dust, most times. It starts out all friendly, and you are patient, but after awhile you have to go in and kick some butt, and then you worry about the kind of job you are getting after that.

I've even told the guy I am a generous tipper if the job is done right and in a timely fashion, and they still blow it.

Last time I used a body shop for paint was on my Son's Cal Look bug. I told the guy we had a lot of money in the car and were going to be very fussy. When we went to pick it up the car was as if a 5 year old had painted it, and he was proud of the job he had done. :eek: I made him repaint the entire car, and luckily he got it right the 2nd time. I guess he didn't want to have to do it again.


Problem is, this scenario happens all too often.

Does that mean he needs to check gaps and possibly do some more body work before painting? Or is he going to paint the car assembled?

Maybe they're like me and just get all worn out and take a week off!!!!!:LOL: :LOL: About all I got done last week was some wiring on the Merc and some preliminary planning on a V-10 powered project........

Trying to come up with some different ideas for valve covers on my pickup. I picked up a couple sets of the Ford cast aluminum valve covers off eBay (cheap) and started smoothing on them. Looking for some ideas on how to finish them..... Just smoothed and polished or maybe some color on them? The truck, inside, outside, and upholstery will be Ford Bright Red and Ford Performance white. The pulleys, radiator, fan shroud, and a few other goodies under the hood are polished aluminum. The engine block is red.... Any kewl ideas for the covers? I've enclosed a couple pics, they have some really neat ridges and lines, if I was artistic I could figure out what to do with them. But I'm not, so I'm looking for opinions. Thanks!!!
