Good show mustang. Guys, have you looked at this thing? its a prius in a box!:LOL::LOL:
Thanks mrmustang for watching out for our fav site. I really appreciate everything and all the hard work that all the moderators do here, very well done.
Gee, I wonder if this Van Steenberg snake voted in the "Scam Poll" on the home page.
Thanks Bill. See, politics we can abide in an adult fashion.............it's self serving liars we abhor.**)
Way to go mrmustang, we sleep better knowing you guys are watching out for us, his product :HMMM: got me remembering the bilge blowers showing up on e-bay as electric blowers for cars or bikes, they made about the same claims
I apologize for the deception I caused anyone. I never meant to deceive anyone, just start an intelligent conversation about new technology. I started this company last October and I am interested in everyone's opinions good or bad. Please accept my apology as I have a learned a valuable lesson.
Sincerely,
Michael Van Steenburg
Per his site from FAQ:
Q. Is the Electrocharger™ a performance upgrade?
A. Yes, it decreases your 0-60 time by a minimum of 3 seconds and sheds at least 3 seconds off your 1/4 mile time, over stock vehicle performance.
And for only $2800.00
Reading/posting same time
Wow, I could have a 6sec T Bucket :whacked:
Hey Streets, lend me your Visa Card, gotta get a couple of them units. Gonna book my tickets for the next NHRA event, gotta be there when Kid Bernstein goes 1.988 @ 612 mph.!!!!
I went to the website, if I make the Ranchero over 10,000 GVW I can take a tax credit on the purchase!!!!! Now all I gotta do is figure out how to add about 7,500 lbs to the weight of the truck!!! Geez, maybe he sells them little peicies of widow screen that go between the carbs and the manifold and will increase my fuel mileage by 30% too. Then I should be able to run in the 6's and get 22 MPG.
Kewl, man you got all the gidgets, thingamobobs, gizmos, and such. Think you should post that Card here on CHR, we'd all send ya a check if we used it. BTW, for a nominal fee I could let ya in on a real estate deal I got going. Bought a strip of land 1 foot wide and a half mile long, gonna raise sphagetti!!!!
OKAY...so perhaps this guy should have never posted here, and thanks to our forum moderators and all the info they collected I not only called their compoany and left a message....emailed them (already have a response!!!)...and I was able to do a little research as to this guys business history.
I am an Electrical Engineering Major, and a lot of what they are claiming about this technology makes a lot of sense. Just logically.
I have requested additional info. and after reviewing what they are stating (confirmed data) I can about double my gas mileage in city stop and go driving? On top of this the government pays me back for buying it? Sooooooo.... I pay it off in about a year or so. You guys are not quite understanding the 0-60 time .... but it took me plenty of college classes to get that down so I will not try to explain it to someone who won't get it. If you look at their pictures on their web links regarding how it works, and you know your motors and engines it actually makes a lot of sense.
I just mainly want to actually test drive it!!!
I have been tinkering with cars, as a hobby, since I was 7yo....and perhaps not a sexy hobby for a girl, but I know superchargers and turbos as I have both toys (amongst others) in my Stealth. It took about 17 hours (with a buddy's help) to get my supercharger in. From what alphamaleperformance.com has told me, it will take me about 3 hours to install this gizmo. WOW!
Plus they told me that everything is color coded and basically "plug and play" assuming I can remove and install an alternator (which I have done before).
I spent plenty of $$$$$$$$$ on my supercharger and I was never offered a tax incentive...to top it off my car is a bigger gas hog....as opposed to a gas saver.
I was in San DIego last week and gas was over $2..... totally sucked!!
I am not saying that I am going to jump out and buy one of these without seeing further info....but I am open minded, and realize that this technology could potentially be awesome (if it isn't already).
I am going to try and see if I can speak with someone that already has one...try other forums and find out, or even as the company if they have anyone that would be willing to talk to me that already owns one.
It just sounds like a bunch of kids here that jumped on the bandwagon....
IF what they are professing is accurate, our planet has just met a best friend (reduced emissions and fuel economy) and this guy is going to be a billionaire.
I think I might offer my car as a guinnea pig.
WOW, 3 second improvment! So does that mean I can add 2 and drop 6 seconds!
Hell, if I by 4 and put them on my old Fury III, I can make it a 8 second car!
Look out Pro70, the old fury is coming after ya! hehehe!!:D :3dSMILE: :3dSMILE: :3dSMILE:
Does your car have 4 alternators? WOW. See the logic?
If you had 4 on your car you would need 4 battery packs and you would never capture enough energy from braking without plugging the vehicle into a wall.
This Electrocharger seems to be capturing energy and is using it to help accelerate the car. Otherwise the energy from braking is just lost as heat and cannot be reused. From the diagram on their site, when braking, the Electrocharger is acting as a generator and storing the energy during braking when you let off the gas.
It's kinda like using a spring...for you mechanically minded people...hint hint.... during braking you are compressing the spring and then when it's time to accelerate you release the spring and use the force as the spring is uncompressing as you accelerate the vehicle.
However, it appears this is done electrically in the case of the Electrocharger.
I am not selling their product...this jsut makes sense folks!
If ya' daisy chain several of these thangs together... can you multiply the systems performance numberz;?
I'm still hangin' onto the "Time Travel Theory" conceived in the LOX thread. He HE:LOL:   **)
Until they provide data and documented performance results rather than "Claims" I have ta' add them to the "If it's too good to be true it probably is" file.
:whacked:
Hotrodgirl,
I love to look at new technology also. There are some great things coming out of the minds of folks everyday. But don’t let someone with technical knowledge, yet lacking scruples, impress you too much with “technical theory” for claims that can’t really hold up in the real world. Keep your wallet in your pocket for just a minute.
I don’t know enough about electrical technology to have an “educated” conversation about this device's technology, but I know enough “country boy horse sense” to doubt the claims made on their website.
Please help me through their claim for cutting 3 seconds off the quarter mile time of a stock vehicle. Take any factory vehicle that is capable of running a 15 second quarter mile. How much more horsepower would it take to get this car to run a 12 second quarter?
But before you figure that out, look at a “fact” stated about this device. From their website - “The ELECTROCHARGERTM is powered by a Super Capacitor Battery Pack (SCBP) that is located in the trunk of the vehicle which provides 48 volts and 600 amps of juice to the motor instantly on demand.”
Isn’t 1 horsepower = volts x amps / 745? At 100% efficiency, this device would provide a whopping 38 horsepower boost!!! Sorry, but this isn’t going to pick you up 3 seconds in a quarter mile….
Listen, I’ve made enough “bone headed” purchases in my life to have a masters degree in the subject  This sure looks like a product that will not provide the promised result.
Dan J
OKAY Streets...
If it wasn't for EE you wouldn't be typing on that PC.... and it would be pretty difficult to have a cool forum like this if you were sending your replys through the US Postal Service.
I agree.... I am not saying that I am going to jump out and purchase one tomorrow(because I already own the company).... but dang.... if it is what they say it is(and we know it is not)..."anyone here that goes to SEMA and might check it out in real life?"....
I am just too openminded to just say it cannot work(even though I own the company).... I think It might not, but I'll try to sell it anyway....
Yea.... sounds like a ringer.... Not makin' any claims here ya' understand, but ya' gotta wonder.Quote:

LOX wuz good too...
And ....... I think LOX goes with anything.... Look what it did for bagels. He He
Oh, and Streets... don't mean to sidetrack anybody cuz' i like this type of thread, but can I move to NY? I just now got my 2004 Property tax and they nicked me for an additional $692.00 this year. Over 70% of the bill goes to paying school tax to cover the cost of the new school they built. The area is becoming a bedroom community with new subdivisions going up all over the place. The city fathers apparently don't have the foresight to also bring in businesses for a tax base.
Hey, I don't have money burning in my pocket and running out swiping my card at the next new gadget. I haven't purchased one of these but very interested in the technology because Electrically it makes a lot of sense.
It isn't about HP...it's about torque...Torque is what launches your car and gets it off the line. The more torque you have the harder the car launches. HP is for your speed at the end.
Hotrodgirl, I’m not picking on you :D and I think you’re enjoying the conversation too. BUT, you’ve got to use some common sense here. Beware of someone that makes claims that can’t be true!Quote:

By the way, horsepower and torque are related. The computation is Torque = 5252 x HP / RPM.
I’m just trying to get you to realize that the amount of “Power” that it would take to pick up 3 seconds in a quarter mile pass will be substantially more that what this device provides.
Dan J
I just find it hard to believe that this electric motor can provide a sufficient amount of torque to the crank shaft to produce the claims made in the article. Aren't most Electric over Gas vehicles an either or set-up. That is one or the other is running but not both at the same time? Seems to me the faster the electric motor runs the less torque it would provide to the gas motor? In the "Hybrid" cars the electric side is only used to cruise and the gas does the "Power" work like acceleration? Correct me if I'm wrong.Quote:

Pro, this thing looks like it's providing all of the boost in horespower through the belt drive to the crankshaft pulley. I'm just not seeing anything in this device's setup that will reliably produce the power they are claiming... if it will make much "real" power at all. Maybe they've just taken the liberty of embellishing the facts :HMMM: in their advertising, but I'd be afraid of ANY of their claims at this point!
Dan J
Well, Dan maybe you are right. I am not saying that they have all the answers. But it says that this was developed with Texas A+M University. Are you contradicting them? It would seem that it would substantiate many of their claims having had a disinterested University doing their testing. I really don't know how that works....but just made sense since they are independent. A+M wouldn't make up test results...why would they? They are legit.
Okay guys,
You don't think it's a little suspicious that HOTRODGIRL just came to the Forum 'TODAY' and has never done a sign on greeting and is from Texas as was AUTODESCOM and is tauting this miracle performance tool. Moderator Help.
Hmmm :HMMM: now just how much hp can we transfer through this little belt, 100, 200 more ?
Wonder if our sister site Club Golf Club could use em on there golf carts  I can hear the ricers now talking sh!t about their 6sec hondas, "uh can't race RIGHT now, gotta charge my dohicky in the trunk overnight"
Ohhh...aaa.... Well maybe I'll stay where I iz' then. We are in yr. 3 of a 5 yr. de-evaluation of the neighborhood Nuclear plant. They are gettin' outta' payin' big taxes and we are pickin' up the slack. So, we'll be gettin' these increases for a couple more years unless I die first.Quote:

Streets, my yellow LIGHTNING BOLTS are good for at least a 4 second faster 1/4 mile time :D :D :DQuote:

This thread may need to be retitled "Buyer Beware" and let folks see how persistent someone can be when they are trying to separate you from your hard earned cash
I've got to get back to work, you guys cover it for a while **)
Dan J
Streets and Dan...and anyone else,
I am just going to wait until this years SEMA show....in the meantime keep doing research and asking lots of questions. Your discussions have certainly sparked many questions for me and I appreciate that. I am actually going to direct some of these questions to their tech support. Can't loose anything by learning.
As far as acceleration in hybrids...their are many different types of accellerations...some are electric only...gasoline for cruising....some gasoline only...electric for cruising...others a combination of both.
if they are using that SR technology it has a flat torque curve to a specified rpm and then drops after that. SR motors can actually spin to 100K rpms and they say theirs only goes to 15,000rpms. Maybe that is how they are doing it?
OLD 100 Ford.
What is a sign on greeting??
Texas is a BIG state....LOL...
I'd be happy to do one if that was a prerequisite to posting?
I signed on and saw a bunch of different questions. and topics. This sounded interesting!!!
How many other people (besides me) have come here today pretending to be someone they are not???
By the way. I also posted to 3 other Threads. This topic was just interesting.
BS ing is okay...but this was a real "live" current technology zap. Caught my attention is all.
Personally I like threads like this once in a while. I must not be the only one that does cuz' they always seem to fill up with posts quick.
And MORE to come .....
Q. What other upgrades would I need to have to add more power with the system?
A. The new product we are expecting to introduce next year will be an upgrade for the
Electrocharger™ that allows you to add 15PSI of boost to the engine. Giving you up to an
additional 200HP, but in a sophisticated intelligent manner. Keep watching the website for
more details
WOW, I can hardly wait.....
I think you guys are just picking on me cuz I'm cute and look great in leather pants.:D LOL.
Hmm :HMMM: well post a pic and I'm sure that will start another debate :3dSMILE:Quote:

MOST everyone does an Intro.. 'ceptin' fer the trolls and spammerz...
The POLL above answers your last question..
Would you buy one of these?

No way 28 100.00%
28 say Nay . Golly Gee.. itz been fun dudes and "dudette"... but, I gotta go play wif the "Pail" now and re-wire the dang thang...re-adjust the Johnson Rods... and then go buy one of them -3 2nd gizmo's fer it.. whoppee...
I was just being honest. I guess time will tell. Will be interesting to say the least.

You say you are and Electrical Engineer Major, and argued for sooooooo loooonnnnnggg that their claims were possible, no matter what everyone, including us ol geezers, tell you. If you'd ever been involved with drag racing at all you'd know that this a total scam. Not all drag cars are ultra hotrods. Just look at the stock classes. We know how much it takes just to get a couple of tenths let alone a second off the time card.
That's why I was a little suspicious of you. Especially after seeing that the originator was banned. If you are legit you have my apologies.
Scams come all the time and the older you get the more you are on your toes.
Tell you get OL TIMERS that is :) :)
