Sunrise at Puyallup....
....well, okay, maybe a couple hours after sunrise, but early enough that the shadows are still long as the sun comes up over the hills and buildings.
With low 80s temps and an occasional gentle breeze it couldn't have been a better GG event. Larry M, Brent, Alan (evolvo), and Jack F all made it. Brent got plenty of attention for his Ford GT replica, while Larry and I tried desperately to keep his feet on the ground. My bride wondered how we'd recognize Alan since we'd never met face to face before. I told her to just look for the guy with Birkenstocks and sox. She got a kick out of Alan's self depricating humor. Jack was running around like a kid in a candy store....but then who wasn't?
There were lots of outstanding cars there, and maybe the other guys will post up some pics, but one in particular hit my hot button. The owner had named it Deusen Arrow...............a somewhat clever combination of Deusenberg and Pierce Arrow reflecting the makeup of the car. He has been an active collector of high end classic cars for years and mentioned this was his first "hot rod". Nice start eh? I asked him if he's taken any flack from his Deusenberg buddies for sacrificing the engine to a "hot rod", and he noted that there are more surviving engines than cars, so it's not much of a problem. The sheet metal work was done by Al Swedberg, a well know craftsman of the first order in these parts. It's quite a piece!Last edited by Bob Parmenter; 07-26-2010 at 08:34 AM.
