....well, okay, maybe a couple hours after sunrise, but early enough that the shadows are still long as the sun comes up over the hills and buildings.

With low 80s temps and an occasional gentle breeze it couldn't have been a better GG event. Larry M, Brent, Alan (evolvo), and Jack F all made it. Brent got plenty of attention for his Ford GT replica, while Larry and I tried desperately to keep his feet on the ground. My bride wondered how we'd recognize Alan since we'd never met face to face before. I told her to just look for the guy with Birkenstocks and sox. She got a kick out of Alan's self depricating humor. Jack was running around like a kid in a candy store....but then who wasn't?

There were lots of outstanding cars there, and maybe the other guys will post up some pics, but one in particular hit my hot button. The owner had named it Deusen Arrow...............a somewhat clever combination of Deusenberg and Pierce Arrow reflecting the makeup of the car. He has been an active collector of high end classic cars for years and mentioned this was his first "hot rod". Nice start eh? I asked him if he's taken any flack from his Deusenberg buddies for sacrificing the engine to a "hot rod", and he noted that there are more surviving engines than cars, so it's not much of a problem. The sheet metal work was done by Al Swedberg, a well know craftsman of the first order in these parts. It's quite a piece!

Whew, long weekend at GoodGuys in Puyallup but another great car show.

It was great meeting up with you again Bob and meeting another club member Jack F. Sorry I missed you at the show Alan(evolvo). Ya missed a good show Greg, would of liked to see your '65, I use to have one and wish I still had it.

The taller guy on the left is Ron, has a nice '47 Ford Convertible, and next to him is Bill, who built his own '33 Ford tudor woodie. They're from Portland, OR.

Glad you got a picture of that "motor home", that thing is just beautiful, and the workmanship is awsome. That thing had a crowd around it all weekend long, you must have caught it when the gates were closed.

Thanks Bob, CRS is getting me down. Yeah that motor home was something else.

Thanks for posting the photos guys and glad that you took some of you fellas so that we can sort of put a face to a name,thanks. The workmanship that was gone into that green 50's Chevy is outstanding,not really my cup of tea as too modern but wow it is amazing. That first photo is an outstanding car too followed by the two tone '37 Coupe in the hall.. One just has to love those curves. The Deusenarrow is totally different and for the fact that it is hand built with a straight 8 Deuseny motor is neat. Those front guard /fender things would cut the steering lock down somewhat I would think but they suit the whole style of car. I loved the exhaust system also, the whole cars is magical.

So Larry you were getting in the wrong side to pinch it I was going to say but then my dumb blond brain remembered that you guys have the steering wheels on the wrong side. So did you work out how one is surpose to get in and out of those cars, legs first and lower oneself in or butt first and then try and twist one legs in???? I would be interested in hearing how it is done correctly.

Sorry to butt in again but I have been study that Deusen Arrow again and wonder if they are genuine Deusenberg front shocks and if anybody here can give me a brief run down on how they worked please.

Actually you were right the first time, that's the funny thing about that pic, Larry IS getting in on the passenger side! If you look closely at the roof you'll see the cut out for the driver door extension on the other side. Presumably to make entry at the LeMans start quicker.

As for the shocks, I didn't ask the source, they could be Pierce Arrow or something else. They looked to be a strap affair with an inertia reel type of mechanism in the housing.

Yup, legs first into the foot box then sit butt down,,,,,, rest get your breath then grab roll bar and squeeze down into the seat then strap yourself up. Drivers side is a bit easier to get into but still the same entry execution, exit just the opposite oh yeah,,,,, earplugs ya gotta have earplugs cuz that sucker is loud

That '52 Chevy called "The Jade Rival" in reference to the ol' Jade Idol by Gene Winfield (see pic) is beautiful with just a ton of body mods. I saw this car "The Jade Rival" at this years Grand National Roadster Show(GNRS) where it won the Gorge Barris Kustom D' Elegance award. Built by John Foxley out of Maple Ridge, BC and a young guy with just a ton of talent.
