I finally got the inserts for the horns squared away:
Snaps-

And inserts-

They have just the right amount of volume.

Yes a savvy eye may have noticed that the brake hoses are covered. What can I say? I'm insane. :)

Moved the frame outside to clean the garage and took some pics in the light:

http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2...psce24e25a.jpg
I used a DA and a lot of Hand sanding just to get the car in bare metal:
http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2...psa52487d4.jpg
The firewall on this car was screwed. Someone at some point just hacked a hole in it. When I was getting it ready for the wedding I didnt have time to deal with it so I left it open.
http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2...ps2a76d61e.jpg
Closed up the gaping hole and patched some areas. The keyhole looking thing on the left is where the coil top pops through the firewall. Need to move that up top.
http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2...ps39664d17.jpg
There we go. Also patched where the two bolt thingies were up there. Now about that gas neck...

Yes I know it's with a Mig. I really want a Tig and I'm ready for that step but can't swing it quite yet.

Drilled the holes for the Gauges:

Been Collecting for a while, going to run Amp, Volt, Vac and Oil pres on the Firewall and Amp, Oil Pres, Water Temp, Vac, and Gas inside.
http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2...ps5c9d7ea5.jpg
Just found these too, dude thought they were forklift gauges.
http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2...ps595d9edd.jpg
On the cowl there was this bullet hole:
http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2...pscd9e2fed.jpg
About five minutes with a hammer and dolly and one little zap it was gone:

Night Shot:
http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2...ps0b432f76.jpg
I had this 53 Ford dash. Well I found a pair of 54 Vicky door panels. Figured it might just work:
http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2...psc7e8891f.jpg
Cut them down and sorta tacked em in:
http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2...psdff984c0.jpg
You can see they sorta do but sorta dont line up. This is gonna be fun:rolleyes:...
http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2...ps963ee468.jpg
This is the other side and it's hard to tell but basically this picture is saying how much of a bitch this is gonna be :)
http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2...ps4cc72d4f.jpg
Some tweaking here and pulling there, and a little help from posterboard templates I got it all lined up

http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2...psfa8f985b.jpg
Now I have this night where I can't make alot of noise. Perfect time to polish a windshield frame. The little welds at the corners were a pain to get rid of.
http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2...ps9df01d2d.jpg
And I need to make the swing out part work. I moved the studs down since the car is chopped and made these little brakets that screw to the frame. I have no idea how close to factory it is but it works for
me.
http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2...ps6fbc3a6f.jpg
So now finally for the first time ever I have a swing out windshield. Pretty excited about that!

I'm hoping to get a little more done before the body goes back on this week.
I whipped up a little firewall cover
http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2...psc561b9b0.jpg
And then my friends came over and we dropped the body on this thing.

I do appreciate the little extras you have invested in like the vinyl covers that really takes your car to another level, wow, outstanding, great ideas and they really suit the style of car you are building.

So I crammed for several weeks to get ready to drive my coupe to the Roundup. It was amazing.
Got the manifolds on and the car running:

My good buddies Bob, Mark and Jeff came over to help motivate me. At this point I was up for like 2 days straight..

I have this bottle of water that was blessed by OZZY. I use a little in every car I make. It never lets me down.

Slowly getting close to driving:
http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2...psd86d661e.jpg
Took it out and around the block. Damn it feels good!

Temporary interior

And for it's first official drive why not go 50 miles to eat some BBQ with one of my best friends? It'll cruise at 75 laser straight with almost the entire gas pedal in reserve. Way faster than I'm willing to try, and that's saying something, cause I'm nuts.

On our way back to Austin

Won the Mad Fabricators pick! It was an incredible honor that my buddy Piero thought enough of the car to pick it as his favorite. What a great weekend!

Fantastic metal work! I had a '29 roadster body with similar rust but just did not know such restoritive metal work was possible so I sold it and bought a 'glass body. I still had a challenge with the 'glass body but I have to say your work is amazing; expecially the later dash and the window sills.

Way to go Dreddybear! Congrats on the award too! Looks fantastic, glad your enjoying it! Great work with cool details. Thanks again for the great pics of all your hard work. It's good to have friends who help motivate us!
-
That's a great update! You've got some fantastic pictures there, and the car's coming together as a great period example. Stance is right, and it's got to be a ball to drive. Really like that picture from the driver's seat over the six bellmouth carb scoops!
-
Awesome work! Great pics!!!
-
Wow, you have awesome skills man! I love how your car has turned out. That dash is awesome! Great work and congrats on the award! That's awesome!
