    Deco Rides..

Well guys,[and gals],thought I would share some pix with you of a job I am doing at the moment. As you can see,its a Deco Rides s/d,the only one in the country, was imported along with a Lincoln Zephyr coupe by Custom Rods, here in New Zealand[.Now no longer trading].
The guy who owns it picked it up along with a Fatman Fabrications frame, which has helped the build..
    Anyway,pix..

As first seen in owners workshop.

First job was to trim up the original floor so I could start the new rear floor section and new wheel houses.

This wagon is going to be an every day user,no bags,no extranious garbage,a rolling advertisement for his trimming business,so its strictly useable.
At this point I should point out the fact that neither side of this body is identical at the rear,so this is why I have cut about 3/4 inch out of the front of the R.R wheelarch and glassed it back together..

The rear floor has a recess for the spare wheel. There will be a flat floor fitted in to cover it.

At this point I am told to fill the slots in the firewall,as the owner is doing something different with the hood hinging.

Because of the engine recess, the firewall is built back several inches, good thing he is only about 5'ft 6'''max.

Dont know if anyone has ever noticed, but the rear fenders are actually different widths, and the spine on the left fender curves in towards the body,sooo...

Out with the cutting disc, and into the fender..

The owner decided that because he couldnt lower it any more,[clearance regs down here in NZ],we would slash the bottom off the rockers, and front and rear valances, and give it a lower appearance.

When he got the body, someone had put a steel frame inside each door, but the way they were built, there was no way a window or regulator was going to fit,so owner made new frame.[in second pic]

It was about this time we decided to check the RR fender again and found it was about an inch shorter than the LR fender, hence the next few pix.

We now have the body off the frame, which is back at the owners workshop, while we do the tail lite openings, finish off underneath the body, and finish the bodywork ready to shoot in 2 pack primer.
The running gear is a point of interest here,as the owner has stripped a perfectly good 2004 BA series Boss 5.4 quad cam Australian Ford Falcon
ute, less than 50000miles,which he has owned from new.
