I did see a chevette with a tube frame and a 502 with a 700r4 auto in it at the dragstrip when I was in Redding California. It had a hard mounted front axle, and a currie rear in it. It never seemed to hook up,maybe the wheelbase was just too short, that or the driver was just pitifull, it only ran in the high 13's.
