    Put some 4x4's across the top of the bed and carry it on top of the
    bed.....it'll make the little bugger top heavy but it will work.

    Thanks, Tech. It also works if your girlfriend wont fit in the pickup bed (learned that from a guy from Arkansas).

    I had an 85 Ranger (long bed) and the bed had notches on the sides so you could put 2 x 4's across between the sides allowing you to put a plywood false floor above the wheel wells. I am not sure whether they had this on the short bed or whether the 1998's still had those.

    I do belive my '92 Ranger has those provisions.. but I know the '98 doesn't, and I took the '92 off the road..

    and as for a trailer, I have no hitch

    yea, IDK why. it has factory trailer wiring, but no hitch, AND the ball plate on the bumper hasn't been punched out ither.. makes no sense.. but I will eventully get a hitch if I keep it
