9" housing off by 3/4 of center panicking now
Hi guys, Ok I’m panicking now.
I installed my 9” today and was tiring to mesher the drive shaft and I notes that my 3rd member yok is not sinter to a drive shaft tunnel.
Its about 3/4 “ of to a left ( passenger site)
Is it suppose to be this way or the company that sold me the housing failed ?

You can chill. They are all off center. U joints take up the misalignment and it is actually good for them because it causes it to "work" the bearings. Hope you didn't chew off too many fingernails over this.

Jeeze now I'm worried! Mine is centered! but pitched up a bit versus a 0 degree straight ahead!
Edit that above statement, mine is off center, but still pitched up a bit

I’m doing a drag car and will have about 800 RWHP this way I was so worried about it.

Chudik, do yourself an HUGE favor and buy this book. It's the best I've ever seen for explaining how and why to set up the rear diff/suspension for drag racing. (you don't know what you don't know) Jegs has the best price on it right now....

Also, as everyone else has said, it's better to have a little angle on the u-joints to make them work properly. I have seen fellows shorten the housing/axle on the driver's side to bring the pinion to the center of the car, but I think it is a mistake.PLANET EARTH, INSANE ASYLUM FOR THE UNIVERSE.

Are the wheels centered in the wheel wells, that would be my biggest concern? That should be nothing to worry about it is not dead center on the rear anyway. You do not want a dead straight line to the tranny anyway, being off center will help your U-Joints live longer.

that is no big deal mine in my gto i think is about 5/8 off center and i have all of 800hp but not all of getting to the ground
