if you really want to be into traditional rods the HAMB is the place to go. To go there to torch some guys just for kicks, well I guess you got what you wanted.

Actually, that's was the furthest thing from my mind. I honestly thought they would think it was cool. After all, it's a bunch of car guys just like on this site. It just shocked me how so many jumped on it and the really nasty things they said, it was comical after the thread went to three solid pages within an hour or so. I'd never go on a site with the intent or pupose of making people mad. I was being sarcastic when I suggested that other people should do it.

I know you went on there with the best intentions........you are proud of you car and just wanted to share it, but the HAMB members for the most part have no interest in anything but what they consider traditional cars. Their forum is built on that premise and for the most part they stick to it pretty closely. The minute I saw your thread on the HAMB I held my breath, knowing what was coming.
Just let it go, what do you care what anyone thinks of your car but you anyway?
Most of us on here like it and can appreciate the work that went into it. But as I posted to this same thread on the other forum, we don't need to start visiting other forums just to stir the pot. I realize that wasn't what you were suggesting, but some members from other forums take great delight on going other places just to get themselves banned. That is not cool.

You're right, Don. I've also posted an apology on another site for shooting my mouth off about this. Case closed.

No apology needed, lots of us have been offended by some of the rude comments made over there. Like we have said, 99 percent of the members are great, but that last one percent love to be "keyboard heros" and seem to derive great pleasure when someone does something they feel is incorrect. I even see some members who fight back when some of this stuff happens because they don't like to see flaming either.
I don't post there, but have sent PM's to someone who innocently ventured on and posted something like you did and who also got blasted for it. I don't think there is any reason for that kind of behaviour, and felt I had to tell the person they didn't do anything wrong.
But, they is they and we is we.

I belong to a wide variety of message boards. I am noticing a pattern...many of them seem to attract a few radical personalities, who then start to dominate the posts.
That does not seem to be the case here....thank you God!

To each his own I think. If I don't like something I leave it alone. You can rub any one the wrong way and it dosen't matter where they park their buns you are going to get a response .That response can be abrasive or mild depending on the individual.I belong to the HAMB but post very little.
Austin had a big show a couple of weeks ago and a lot of the HAMB members were here. They like traditional style I like billet style.I didn't go to the show and definitely did not get the coupe out. They have a world of knowledge to draw from just like CHR.
The site is moderated from Austin, but do not know the full history of the Forum.Don D

Let me see if I have all this right...... Those who protest the Hot Rods and Street Rods that have billet and nice paint and all look alike want something truly unique and out of the norm are bound by a strict set of rules that dictate what their really unique cars have to look like???? Ok, think I got it now.....
Sounds like one more reason I really dislike all the classification, catagories, and stereotyping.....Last edited by Dave Severson; 04-21-2008 at 02:30 PM.

It's just like trailered vs. driven, steel vs 'glass, Ford vs Chebbie. I like 'em all - I just don't like some of the petty BS that I've seen at shows, rod runs, cruises. I wouldn't join either of the 2 major clubs in my area - because of the 'political' crap. My personal criteria - make it safe (tho some of the outrageous rat rods.........

I enjoy the HAMB I've seen some pretty detailed builds; one in particular was a 50's chop. I'm pretty sure it was his first, he really did a good job of chopping, and sent lots of pictures with information of what he was doing and why. Some post you have to over look some of the language “---- this ----that” but I check the site out pretty often.
I got all heated up going to the city after my Dr. appointment, and having my blood pressure medication increased. Did it help? NO!! I couldn't wait to get back to the country. Got pissed off just trying to pay for gas that we have to pump, slow pokes getting everything but gas, all I wanted to do was pay in advance give $20 on pump 8 a lady walks in front of me with one of those big gulps or giant sodas. I try to reach over just to give my $20 and you would have thought I committed a crime, by now I'm getting over heated, I step in front of a big burly guy. I said hey go ahead I don't want to get anything started. Don’t even ask about the incident in the grocery store. Man just get me back to the country, I now know why I don't get out much. After co-piloting my wife's driving. I don't know how she makes it without me watching over her shoulder. Cop behind us sign says 30mph, 25mph when flashing, it was, and she’s going 40. We finally hit the fresh air in country, and I feel the tension leave. My wife said if I go before her she is driving the Hurst. I told her to drive as fast as she wants!!!

I used to be pretty much dedicated to one site. Been a member there from just about their get-go, and still am. But as Hotrodpaint, stated.....some tend "to attact a few radical personalities, who then start to dominate the posts..... so I found myself seeking satisfaction elsewhere. I still go there, but the allure has been tarnishedHotrodpaint wrote: I belong to a wide variety of message boards. . Today CHR is my number one. I joined here and have been very satisfied with everything here and most of the members are not only experienced and knowledgeable, but they are also always interested in helping others, without serious criticism.
To broaden my rodding experience, I also joined other sites just to see what was going on elsewhere in the world of rodding. Among others, the HAMB, Hotrodders.com, and OZRodders (Aussie). I have run across many people from these sites who are also members elsewhere. Not surprising that we all share a common intereest. I think it is good to be able to see what others in our hobby are doing. Creativity is not exclusive to the USA.
(I just love the Aussie 38/39 Ford slopers, damn shame they never built them here
)
I have never enjoyed confrontation, so I don't go places to create a problem or give a false impression. Sure there are some real A-holes out there, but with time and maturity, you can learn to spot them and avoid them. If you can't then growing thick skin may be a warranted.
