    Lightbulb best tub for sbc?

Hi all, kinda new here. I own a 1984 vette w/ crossfire injection. Thought about removing the crossfire and building it up, but decided it was too nice a car to mess with...50k miles, garaged, 28mpg!!! Anyway, my cousin gave me his 350 out of his 72 pickup because I told him I wanted to take it apart and rebuild it. Never done this before, but this will be my summer project. I really want to do it just to learn!!! I've been looking around for an apprenticeship, but no luck so far.

So for now, I guess I'm just dreaming a little and considering my options. I will build this 350, and I'll probably buy a kit for parts instead of trying to match things up correctly. I'm just shopping around right now for parts, trying to land a good deal. Anyone have a good deal?

My real qustion is this: what the heck should I put this 350 in? It aint gunna be my vette. I need some kinda roller to take this engine, and I'm looking to be creative, without spending more than 3 grand on the roller. I have a 1970 Porsche 911 t and its valve rings are shot, so it smokes a lot...although it has a lot of work to be done on the interior (but its do-able), and I've reasearched on chevy v8 conversions.

Lots of people have done it in these old Porsches, and big names like Rennegade and John's Cars sell the parts needed. Only problem is cooling, but that's another post for another forum. So guys I guess shoot with any ideas you might have. Maybe an old truck? I saw an old '49 chevy slantback for sale today, and the sixbanger is shot. It was pretty badass lookin! A little too expensive though, b/c there's been a lot of love put into this car.

Hey thanks guys for any suggestions. I'm looking for something creative yet inexpensive, although I usually end up dumping my paychecks into my rides...

Home for a small block Chevy

    Studebakers are always nice

The 60's Studebaker Larks are Nova size and many of them came with small block Chevys so it would be a drop in. Parts are more available than you might think and a lot of them had sure track rear ends. I've seen a number of them for less than $2k.

Today was my first day working as an apprentice to a body shop guy. I'm learning a bunch, just treated metal for an old baracuda restoration. Anyway this guy has a '72 chevy pickup, short wheel base, four wheel drive, also has a two wheel drive, they seem pretty nice. He said he'd help me fix it up and sell it to me cheap. What do you guys think??

something that would be a low budget build , maybe a chopped , dropped pre 92 chevy s-10. a bit of ground effects, french the frame into the floor, easily tubbed for wide tires, a mid 300 h.p. 350 and your turning 12's in no time.
just a thought, but if the 84 backfire(sorry) is getting boring, juice up the 350 and put it in, save all the original parts in case you want to sell it later.
I just had the 350 in the 75 vette done (was 165 h.p.). It now runs at about 350 h.p. sweet, its like a new car.
    whatever you do, have fun,mike.

So mike, would it be possible to take out the original engine, drop in the 350 I am going to build, have everything connected right and functioning (and fitting) and then someday swapping out the engines again so that the car is as it was? What about all the things that run off the computer? My uncle told me not to mess with it, but he did not say why. I think I'd like to do it this way if possible. So is it possible/worth it?

she should bolt right up. you would need all the accessory brackets , alt, water pump etc . from the donor .you dont alter the computer, you just dont use it to run the engine. some electrical mods are in order, but it's not a hack and tape job,and it is all reversible.make sure you keep the trucks flywheel and starter.mike
the s-10 build is in thought for my parts collection. a 350,vortec heads and intake, two speed glide with 2500 stall torque, 12 bolt posi. still need more stuff before i find a truck.should move though.mike
