That reminds me of years gone by.
In the 60's there was a speed/machine shop here in Columbus named,THE ROD SHOP. Well the story here was similiar to there,,,and thus the re-nameing on the street,,,THE ROB SHOP!
But having said that let me add,the other 'big name' speed shop here used to have a machine shop also. Their reputation was not real good,,,,I couldn't understand that,,,after all, they were ----,the big name in drag racing.
Well I took a set of heads to them to be worked on(3 angle valve job and more),paid $400 back then in the 70's.Got the heads home and looked them over and found one of the o-rings pinched between the keepers and sticking up in plain view! They havn't done machine work for a number of years now,,,and I wonder why??? But they do still sell many millions in parts.
Gentlemen,,,what ever went with the 'service with a smile' and doing the customer better than he expected??? Is it a lost art in this country, gone with the WWII generation???"On a r-e-e-e-e-al,,,,qu-i-i-i-i-i-et night,,,,,,,,(whisper),,,,,,,, you can hear a Ford rust!!!"
