Some new engines are much better than the older ones. Take for example the latest incarnation of the ubiqutous small block chevy. Stronger bottom end, better cooling, better heads, better (powdermetal) rods, less parasitic drag and a host of other features that make it superior to it's predecessors.

But I'm betting that there are a few newer engines that may not be as (physically) strong as their forebears. Anyone want to give some examples?
