Thanks, Dave! You're probably right, I doubt there will hardly ever be anybody in the back seat but I'd rather do it now and say I did rather than later wish I had..... the belts came with the seats so I just had to use 'em..

Did you get your new seats in yet? Been cruising in your car much?

I finally got the seats in late Thursday afternoon but the weather turned to rain and I was gone yesterday so really haven't had it out with them yet. But, I did try the pedals and I no longer am totally pretzelled, only kinked. I can't believe how long the riser/slide assembly took to build, but I'm sure you could have told me. I am going to lower them a bit more - easy now that I know how to build the risers plus already have a layout template. Photos will eventually follow but the big desktop with a ~TB of storage and my albums had a new ASUS MOBO die so it needs some TLC, probably tomorrow

Finally the back seat fitting is complete!!! I can move on to something else now.....maybe I'll go ahead and fit the side panels now....who knows?

Anyway, here are a couple more pics. I got the package shelf and bracing modified and welded back in. I have a can of Eastwoods Rust Encapsulator so I coated those areas that will never see the light of day again before I welded them. After that was solid, I mounted the seats again to try out the belts. They are really comfortable and feel good. Heck maybe I'll just extend the pedals & steering column and drive from back there!!!

Thanks, Mike! I cleaned out the car before I took these last pics. If I shot the pic from the other direction you might not see much improvement in the garage. But, in my defense, I have been working on the car which tends to create more mess......

Yeah, I know all about the mess.!.! I took this last week off from work and made a real concerted effort to complete the bodywork and was hoping to paint it. I realized last night that I wasn't going to make it.... 8-( I'll need tomorrow to clean up and put stuff away. Maybe in a week or two I can get the color on....

What color? You know you're supposed to post pics of the prepping process, too!

A shade of blue. No metallic - just blue. BC/CC. I snapped some pics just to tired to get it into this confuser. Once I'm rested and this pain is a memory I'll post it up for you and all.

A shade of blue?? What does that mean? Sky blue? Navy? Marina? What? You can't just say a shade of blue! That only works with black!! LOL!

It's a sherwin williams stock color, 49109 I think it was. It's just a "nice" blue, not dark, not light... kinda reminded me of the Mustangs Grabber Blue, so that triggered that purchase!

I've run out of imagination and patience I think so 1 color began to look like every other color. After 10 years I just want to drive it! Need to get a color on it and send in the paperwork to begin registration... what fun!

I had the whole deal assembled last year and removed the front fenders to aid in hood installation, now the front seems to be cursed and it's causing me much hair loss! In the past 2 days I've only reassembled the running boards and front fenders and I still need to fine tune the alignment....

Well, thanks for clarification on the color... I was just giving you crap. Sounds like it could be a fun blue.
I postponed aligning my hood & fenders until I raise the body & put new rubber mounts under there. Hopefully that will help correct some of the grill-to-hood issues. I'm gonna have to get creative to raise the body, though....
I hope you get it back together before you lose all your hair! You need to drive that thing!!!

Yes, I NEED to finish it! Baldness doesn't suit me well!

To raise my body, I built a wooden frame inside the car with 2x4 lumber. Used pulleys and rope to the garage rafters and with a come along, picked it right up all by myself. If you'd like I will find some pics for you. There are some on here (this site) somewhere.

I don't have any exposed rafters in my garage. There was an article in Rod&Custom magazine this year that did something kinda similar using an extended cherry picker to lift the body. I will probably have to use a similar approach. It would cool to see those pics of how you did yours though. Might spark some more ideas...

Randy - you could build a scaffolding framework, using 2 by lumber, from the floor extending through the openings, use some jacks (3 or 4) to raise it a bit at a time. I did the sedan I originally started with that way - I did have the doors off to reduce the weight. My arrangement was not for the faint of heart, but I was able to get the body on and off my rolling chassis a few times.

Mike - glad to hear that you too are progressing

I didn't either!, drilled a small hole and inserted eye bolts w/ wood thread into rafter. Simple spackle job when we left! I started out with the idea to use my engine hoist but didn't want to pick from the roof.
