He he, that's funny. I can see them doing that.
You are right about what goes around comes around. My Dad died when I was about 12, but when I was about 10 we had a boat. He was complaining one day that the rollers needed replaced on the trailer, but had no time to do it. Sooooo, one day he is at work, and I got out the hydraulic jack, raised the boat up and removed the roller from the bracket. All of a sudden the boat fell off the jack, and the bracket put a hole right through the bottom of the boat !!
I was scared to death, but jacked it back up, put the old roller back on, and put everything away..........didn't say a word to him about it. Next time we went boating I hear him say, "where is all this water coming from??" Then I felt my hair getting pulled because he KNEW I had done something.
I think my butt still hurts from that whooping.

All part of raising kids. I always told mine that they would never get into trouble by telling me the truth, no matter what they messed up or lost. Of course, I'll never know if they did or not. There's still some stuff that is unexplained after all these years.PLANET EARTH, INSANE ASYLUM FOR THE UNIVERSE.

I was a great kid growing up never borrowed anything always put things back ( I'm dreaming again ) sorry where was I. If dad wasn't yelling at me about something I deserved to be yelled at , then he never found out about everything. I learned from my grandfather about cars. My first car had the garage tied up for 6 months while I rebuilt the motor, dad's car sat outside, but he knew where I was and that I wasn't getting into trouble.

All I can say is keep your tool stealing, nut and bolt hiding boy's away from my girl's. I've been lucky enough to not have to worry about my garage and tool's for too long to change now!
My oldest has a life long friend (girl) that is always around and I kid her about being my favorite son in law. Maybe that wouldn't be so bad.

Don---Thats a funny boat story. About 15 years ago, when my dad was still alive, (I was about 46), I took my family to a summer resort up in the Muskoka Lakes area for a 2 week vacation. I borrowed my dads 15 foot aluminum boat and motor.---well, turns out there was a killer snapping turtle that had been terrorizing the swimming area. I found a big old steel crowbar, and waited patiently on the wooden dock for this damn turtle to appear. Eventually the turtle swam out from under the dock, and I made a mighty lunge with the steel crowbar----and speared the damn crowbar right through the side of my dads aluminum boat. I just about had a heart attack. I never said a word to anyone---the hole was above the waterline, and nobody had seen me do it. Later that day I told the wife"that boat motors not running right---I'm going to put the boat and motor on the trailer and take it out to the marina and have them look at it". I ended up having to go about 50 miles to find a place that could weld up the friggin hole, and make it look like it had never been repaired. Luckily it was not painted aluminum. I don't think my dad ever found out, and bless his soul, he's been gone for about 10 years now.---But it makes me laugh when I think about being 46 years old and being terrified that my 70 year old dad was going to find out what I'd done and kick my butt!!!Old guy hot rodder

Actually, when I came back from getting the boat fixed, I did manage to kill the turtle. Then a couple of weeks after I killed the friggin thing, I found that they are on the "endangered species" list, and there is a kazillion dollar fine for killing the damned things!!! Needless to say, I didn't run to inform the nearest conservation officer. I hope that the statute of limitations has ran out on 'turtle murder"Old guy hot rodder

I think I just saw this incident profiled on "Cold Case Files."Only clue they had was a yellow hot rod was seen speeding away from the crime scene.

Jeez, Don--This is crazy stuff!!! I'm setting around my office waiting for a call back from my customer. ---Customer is a big automation house that has proposed a special material handling system to a G.M. Plant. They have hired me to design it, and as far as I am able to tell, what they have proposed is impossible. I may end up having to design a matter transmitter, or else make a trip to Roswell and see if the aliens have something that will work. I've been setting here waiting for the call back for 2 hours, and if it doesn't happen before noon, I'm going to pull the pin and go for a cruise!!!Old guy hot rodder

There is a quote I heard once: "When I was a kid I thought my dad was one of the dumbest people on earth... The older I get, the smarter he was!" Is that a true statement or what?I was 22 when my dad died (at age 56); I'm 59 now and I still don't believe I could match him for plain old "good common sense".
I had 3 older sisters and they like to drove my poor ol' man nuts when they were teenagers. He tried to be fairly strict with them about being home on time, doing homework, not getting serious with the boyfriends, etc. Poor guy was just outnumbered... By the time it was my turn, I think they had worn him down until he just sort of let me "do my thing" as long as I didn't do anything illegal.
The way things are nowdays (remember, I'm a high school teacher and see LOTS of kids every day) I am glad I don't have a daughter. I would be scared to death FOR her. We only had one son (now age 32) and he turned out to be a good person. I don't know, sometimes, if it was because of us or in spite of us that he turned out OK, but he has made us proud and he's also a good friend...Jim

I bet being a teacher you see stuff that makes you shake your head. Parenting has become somewhat of a lost art. I see kids that don't know how to even speak to a grownup, and Parents who don't have a clue about how to teach them right from wrong.
I was walking down the aisle at Publix one day, and there were two girls there, about 14 or 15. Nice looking youngsters, but when I heard them talking every other word was the F bomb. I stopped in my tracks and stared at them in disbelief, and it was as if I wasn't even there. They just went on laughing and swearing up a storm. Where the heck are their parents?? All that they have prepared these girls for is failure, in finding a nice guy, good job, etc.
Too many Parents have turned the raising of their kids over to the TV set, computer, and their teachers. And we wonder why the crime rate is so high and why society is going downhill.
And if I hear the term "Baby Daddy" one more time..............
