For a first build, I'd like to suggest you search out someone else's abandoned project. You'll be leaps and bounds ahead with careful selection.
There are sites like racingjunk that guys are selling off their project and you might find a bargain. Or look into Speedway if you want a T bucket, they have full kits that help build that first car completely.
Decide what you want the car to do, building a driver? Or a racer? Then write down a plan and a budget. Then figure out ways to achieve those goals and mostly... have FUN!
After all, it's a creative outlet and it should be fun - so when it becomes a drag.. drop the tools and go find the wife or girlfriend!
There are a couple , three really great threads of guys doing "T's" for little money so that may help you also. OH, welcome aboard.. good to see you here!

I check in everyday and some are better than others. I don't think Brent has anything to do with the forum anymore, but I'm not sure. Hopefully as time moves on the forum will get better.
