    Military M-101 Trailer top....

So Mr. cusomer sees my weird trailer on the weird trailer forum that I visit on occasion. Im now doing another first for me... Im building an M-101 trailer hard top.

The plan is to use a rubber door seal and make this thing weather proof. Mr. customer drew some pictures for me to help me develop a starting point. He came by yesterday and seemed very satisified so I will continue on. A little more bracing and skinning then it should be good to go. This thing is built pretty stout but Ultra Heavy! Anyone here have any experienced with these? How do they pull?

Bunches and bunches of experience with them.......20 years active duty and 10 working in and around a contractor Motor Pool. They pull good, just watch the height on your hitch and your tongue weight.

Nice work on that top! I have only been around one behind a deuce and a half or bigger. Definitely be a heavy duty trailer. May be a bit on the heavy side down a hill if the vehicle towing it doesn't have sufficient brakes.

What Mike P. said; they don't do too well with the tongue much higher or lower than level at road speeds. We used them for combo pole/material trailers in the power line business - with a few modifications to accommodate the poles, and they were tough as an anvil. I have loaded as many as a dozen 40 to 50 foot wood power poles on one, and with the correct rigging and balance, never had a whit of a problem with one. I saw a picture of one that a guy had replaced the hubs - maybe the whole axle - with some to use conventional eight lug wheels; it lowered the box some, and made a real good looking trailer. I also saw one that had had the single axle replaced with a tandem setup like a car trailer, and was lower than the standard military stance, also a good looking mod.
