While I knew that there was a change in methods of deriving HP back in the '70's I'd never really read the whole story as it's listed here - Understanding Gross Versus Net Horsepower Ratings - Ate Up With Motor One thing that was amazing to me as I read through the article is that the Corporate bosses dictated a "not more than 1HP/10 Pounds" rule, so the exact same engine was listed at 325HP on a Firebird, but 360HP on a GTO. Interesting stuff!
