Recent Update: In an effort to stretch mpg I set the idle down to a rough rumble although my cam is not wild. As a result I have lost the use of my speedometer. Then I set the idle back to 900 rpm and it runs smoother there but my speedometer is still gone. I will have to trace the wiring and the plastic gear in the transmission that runs the pulse unit in any event but I wonder if there is anyone out there who has experienced speedometer damage due to vibration?
P.S. just looking back at the early pictures of my roadster and noting the grassy gravel driveway causes me to mention our new 400 foot blacktop driveway installed two months ago. It was not cheap but it is already cluttered with leaves and small branches from the trees. It looks like I need to use the leaf blower frequently and get a picture of the roadster on the new surface.

Another question, I was told this engine takes 6 quarts of oil. Is that correct? It's a remanufactured 350 with stock pan.
