..................and ESPN3 is covering NHRA Arizona Nationals Qualifying this weekend.
They weren't planning to carry NHRA this season but due to public demand they've changed their mind. Hope this means the whole season & not just Firebird this weekend.
Didja see NASCAR grabbed a Jimmy Johnson car already? I think Chad got caught this time? Or another diversion?
NASCAR seizes part of Johnson's Daytona 500 car - MyVerizon.com
Yawn! nascar Sorry they lost my interest with push car racing, slot cars are more exciting.
Yeah, seems the "C" Pillar was a little wide on the car for the 500.... It was an inspection prior to the car being on the track, so I don't suppose they'll be too tough on them.....
Oh yeah, in practice today for the Bud Shootout there was a 5 car wreck... Cars seemed to run faster today in a pack then they did trying to run in pairs---- The Shootout tomorrow night could be quite "interesting" with a whole pack just going for the win and not caring about points!!!!!! There was also a few cars playing around in practice to see what the EFI would do under various situations they could encounter on pit road....things seemed to work out good, so far!
Yeah, we'll see how bad Chad was leaning on the envelope and how bad Nascar wants to protect their baby! I still think he wasn't aware the camera was on last year and got caught at something.
I actually like the 2 car pairings! I like it a lot more than 40 plus stuck in a line and no one dare break out for fear of ending at the tail... The 2 car "teams" have provided more lead changes and not always "the Names" at the lead and I prefer that!
HE! HE! HE! and it starts again, what fun, seeing just what they can get away with!!!
Kurt
ARCA Race starting in a few minutes, 24 rookies in it, could be a wild one!!!!!!
Another record!! Bobby Gerhart just won the ARCA Daytona race for the 8th time!!!!! They took a chance on fuel and made it to the checkers while everyone else in front of him was running out! All the rookies behaved, a nice clean race!!
Didn't get to see it... Some day I'll break down and maybe get Speed Channel...
As the Budweiser Shootout is about to begin just a bit of a warning to you Barcalounger racers...................................Bud does not make you wiser......
Found the Shootout on FX and NHRA qualifyin' on ESPN2! Life can be good!
Well, didn't take long to get the first big wreck in the Shootout! The tandem racing doesn't work cuz of a rule change on the air openings at the front of the car making the car overheat in a hurry, so it's back to pack racing so far tonight!
At least there was quite a bit of passing, which made me happy!
The way they toe out the rear axle (probably the wrong term but) the rear axle setup forces any push on the left rear to just turns the car in front. Maybe NASCAR should go back to a square tracking car instead of this "dog leg" appearing rig they've been using for awhile now.?.?.?
Haven't heard anyone say what they're running for camber on the rear ends.... I think that smaller spoiler probably has something to do with the car's stability... Betcha at break there will be a lot of track bar adjustments trying to get the back end to not kick out so hard when they get bumped on a corner??? Hard to say, lots of rule changes this year in the aero department!!!!
I do know they are allowed 1 or 2 degrees of TOE out for the rear axle... that's why when they are coming down the straight the right rear is closer to the wall than the right front.. OH, and the ROOKIE Danica was saying the new package takes away 50 pounds of downforce! Don't know if that's combined or front or rear..
I knew when they put out the new setup weeks ago that the smaller radiator opening was going to hurt the 2 car pairings. I was hoping it wouldn't hurt this bad tho'.. LOL..
With all the rule changes this year, the guys running the shootout are sure going to have an advantage on getting the setup right for the 500!!!!
Yep! and their going to need it! I had jumped over to NHRA qualifying and Cory Mac had a fuel line fail and set almost the whole quarter on fire! SCARY! Luckily, no fuel meant low power so speed was low.
Well, big wreck #2--pack racing is back and so are the big wrecks!!!! Left side of the car is so fragile, any little bump and it's sideways!!
I don't know about you but, It's killin' me! I think the rule changes went the wrong way as far as stability!
How about the save by Kyle? That car was all over and he held onto it!
Funny Car, John Force gets to race his daughter, Courtney in round 1 tomorrow! Will old age & treachery win out over the young and quicker reflexes? LOL..
I duuno, if the driver's don't learn to lay off pushing on someone's corner there's not going to be many cars left at the end of the 500!!!! Wrecked a ton of cars tonight with about half as many cars starting the race as will start the 500....
Maybe NASCAR will give them back the height they took off the spoiler to at least give the car some downforce??
Man-what a spark show just getting sideways!!!.
Well, Jeff Gordon caused this one and it cost him BIG
Wow-what a finish!!!.
Well, that was a wild and strange race!!!! Hate to say it but Kyle made one heck of a good last lap pass to win the thing!
Glad that's over! And Kyle proved once again, he's a force to be reckoned with! Got spun out at least 3 times and still wins that crashfest!
Saturday night under the lights @ its finest ! Too bad rest of the races have nap time till the last 50.
KB may have finally matured to the point where he can use his big skill to his advantage instead of disadvantage. If so, this could be a loooooonnnngggg year....
Saw in this morning's paper that Robby Gordon's talking about looking for some deep pocket partners who have connections to potential sponsors, giving him more time to focus on a wider range of financial "opportunities". Maybe we all chip in and buy a CHR share?? :3dSMILE::3dSMILE::rolleyes::LOL:
He smoked Smoke last night
My guess his car wasn't as bad as it looked. I don't care for him as a person seems he is better this year than in the past time will tell. He has a reputation to live down.
Edwards on the Pole and the Biff in second for the start of the big race! I guess Rousch likes EFI ! rofl..
Hey, great news!!!! Gotta love having a pair of Henry's Finest sitting side by side on the front row!!!!!!!!!
Some days Life is Good!!!!
:D:D:D
Just hope there fast enough to GET OUT THE WAY!! LOL
