I heard on the radio yesterday that a few of the political pundits are saying, "....should the President delay the election because of Hurricane Sandy?" It's amazing to me how little some of these public figures know about the system, and how foolish they make themselves look! The election date is set by congress to support the electoral college process, and it is up to each state to determine how their electoral votes are to be cast to support the action of the House of Representatives in their session ordinarily held January 6 following the election. The Constitution, as amended, defines the election process, and no individual can modify the schedule, regardless what Mother Nature does. If the electoral college cannot complete their actions, then the responsibility shifts to the House, as I recall.
