It makes you wonder how you could buy a couple cars for the same price as a two wheel, two cylinder, two passenger vehicle!!!

Just in weight alone that's ten times the materials! What is so much harder about making bikes. (The answer is "Nothing".)

It's not my nickle, but I'm just askin'. :-)

Honda is just trying to recover their cost in the Goldwing "frame recall" a few years back. They are still "The Best" touring bike IMO.

Many things to consider in the purchase of any big ticket motorcycle.
1) purchase price less trade in, or resale value, plus service costs are the true cost of ownership.
2) access to serviceing dealerships "on the road" cannot be overstated if your going to be traveling interstate.
3) replacement parts program
4) technical service backup to the dealer from the manufacturer is important to get you back on the road.

Honda, Kawasaki are very good (as are most Japanese brands) on the above.

Victory fails in all above areas.


As a motorcycle rider, and a service manager in a motorcycle dealership, I will tell you that you cannot compare a motorcycle to a car, in cost of transporation. The car will win everytime. You might convince your wife that it's a good investment. But a $200+ rear tire last's only 3 to 5000 miles on a performance bike and some under 30 yer old riders pay over $3000 per year to insure a $10K bike.

It's all about the wind in your hair and bugs in your teeth. Motorcycles are the most fun you can have "with your pants on". The cost to have fun is not always cheap. Just like any racer will tell you "you always want to go faster/quicker".
