yeah i was shattered when i heard. one young bloke was his first day underground apparently.

The first thing you learn with oh&s emergency response is to only advance when it is safe to do so. No doubt it will be a rather large investigation when it finally comes time to do so.

Spike,,there were a couple or three of your countrymen down that hole too,,and a South African,and and an Englishman or two.Its a pretty devastating thing to happen in any country,especially in a small community like the Westcoasters have..Just sad,,,
Yeah,the young guy wasnt supposed to start till the Monday,but begged to be able to start a few days early..
