If it's the same size as a sbc, it takes a 1 1/16 socket and the deeper the better.Ken Thomas

Tell him you'll need it for the NEXT swap too.I've NEVER seen a car come from the factory that couldn't be improved.....

If I was closer.......... Did the same thing thing many years ago and that is why I have one in my tool box. An 1 1/16 will fit, but the electrical connection will poke through and you won't be able to get an extension or ratchet on it so you can turn it. If you find a 1 1/16 socket just break off the electrical connector on the sending unit unless you plan on using it again.Ken Thomas

hey Barb, you tell that hubby that all your good work will be a waste if you don't have this special socket in your tool box and I sure he will see that you have put too much effort into this car to have it sitting gathering dust because of the price of one socket.I maybe a little crazy but it stops me going insane.

Barb,
Check with your local auto parts store about a loaner socket since it's a "special tool" for sending units. They sell them at AutoZone for $10 (OEM/2 5/8 in. drive oil pressure switch socket (25254) | Socket | AutoZone.com) , but I think many stores keep a loaner in their stash of tools, too.Roger
Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
