One can define "the South" by the Mason-Dixon line, which was made to broker an agreement between two British colonies before there even was a United States of America.

Or, you can define the south by the dividing line across the norther borders of the states of Virginia, Tennesse, Arkansas and Texas, which division was made a hundred years later, well after the establishment of the USA.

Or, you can define the south by the states with the highest number of mullet haircuts and dog balls hanging from their trailer hitchs.

Or, you can call me Ray, or you can call me Jay, or you can call me Johnnie, or . . . (that should bring out some old timers.)

Unfortunately, folks can't see the expressions of others who post comments on the internet. Sometimes comments are misinterpreted. I think that happened here.

Regardless, everyone knows that the Civil War didn't start at Ft. Sumpter. It started on the Kansas-Missouri border due to the Kansas-Nebraska act - which also caused the formation of the Democratic and Republican parties.

tech, I find that americans in general are not stupider than other groups.... our idiots are just louder. .
Despite being in the USMM I work with alot of people from other nations. I do not find these foreigners to be any more or less intelligent than americans.

On another note, if you are honestly letting your children/grandchildren be educated solely by the public school systems... well I don't know what to say about that.

that is so true deeproots. the school my son goes to is one of the top in the nation for its size. yet i find that some of the things that he is being taught is down right wrong. when i bring it to the teachers attention she says that yes she knows it is wrong but she has to teach the text book. that is what the state sol is based on.

For every caring parent like you, there are a hundred who don't know and don't care. The apathy which is exhibited by parents....and for that matter all adults, today, is overwhelming. How can we expect anything other than a declining America? The minds of our little ankle biters are organic computers. Crap in, crap out.

Last one out, please turn out the lights.

that is also true tech. the teachers are not paid enough and alot of parents just send their kids to school because it is the law. they do not care if they learn at all. the schools are becoming a babysitter.
