A British pound is about a buck and a half, so when they say 1,000 lbs they are talking about $1,500 or there abouts. A Quid is slang for a pound.

OCC got old I agree, but it was a gear head show so we don't really need to lose to many o0f those. OCC was no loss though. Interseting how Senior is takeing junior to court over money. I don't have a clue about any of the details but when family has to file suit in court it can't be a good thing.

Great line in a western Movie about money, the movie is Conager (sp) and Sam Elliot when asked why the bad guys are doing what bad guys and is told "Its about the money" Elliot response is "Money-- God help us if thats all it is"

My problem is that I would watch a show, where they talk about the "plan" for a project maybe trips to swap meets, or buying used parts they found...discussion of why they made the choices they did.... some interesting tips on the construction and assembly....and the fun they might have at shows and races afterward.

What I won't watch is shows where they fight amongst each other....throw tools because they are mad....play games with people while they do a quick build without the owner's permission.... or follow them to a volleyball game, or other unrelated crap.

I guess this is why I don't watch them any more.

Dave, I think you hit the nail on the head with your comment about "Made for TV drama crap" Isn't it interesting that no matter which one of those so called "reality" shows that are on they MUST have some required amount of drama?

It's like none of the things have a story strong enough to stand on there own, so they just invent a little drama......

Well Roland, one can only hope that all the drama was invented for TV..... Kind of scary to think it was "for real"

and to those not involved with chopper or Hot Rod building, is this how they would perceive all of us?????

Wonderful use of caps, sentence structure, and punctuation Ted.

I enjoy Sunday mornings on the Speed network such as Stacey David's Gearz and Cut Chop Rebuild, just wish they were longer shows.

Who needs caps, sentence structure and punctuation? That was for English class in school at least 40 years ago. We're gearheads more interested in cars, trucks, boats, etc. I think all of us understood Ted's message just fine.

BTW, for proper punctuation and sentence structure, shouldn't 'Ted' be used at the beginning of your sentence and it isn't necessary to use a , after structure.

Those are good shows. Also, Two Guys Garage (since Bryan Fuller joined) and PowerBlock have some good episodes. All these show that a gearhead show can be made without all the phony "drama" and screaming. Bryan was chopping a 33 Ford on today's episode.

Overhaulin is my favorite TV show. It's fun and Chip is not only an amazing talent, he seems like a very nice guy.

Mike - don't get me started on the "how the web, email, and texting has made us lazy" topic... But I enjoyed your shot nonetheless.

Huh - didn't realize Gearz has so few shows? I just began watching. I am spoiled by the many network websites which offer full episode streaming. Speed looks to only offer snippets of each episode? Can't imagine bandwidth and storage price is an issue.... maybe it's a sponsorship/advert thing.

Being new to this world, any step-by-step How-To's are more than welcome.

I'll run a search on Overhaulin' and a few others which were mentioned.

    EDIT:
Episodes of Overhaulin are here, though one needs to register which looks free?

Gearz - but for a fee of 1.99 through amazon - anything to make a buck....

Yeah, that show was really lame the last time I saw it. I think Sr thought he was some kind of action star; building the project was not the focus anymore. I'd like to see them pick a different boneyard each week, and build a car out of nothing but yard parts. Maybe have two teams doing it and race them at the end.
