Overhaulin is my favorite TV show. It's fun and Chip is not only an amazing talent, he seems like a very nice guy.

Mike - don't get me started on the "how the web, email, and texting has made us lazy" topic... But I enjoyed your shot nonetheless.
Huh - didn't realize Gearz has so few shows? I just began watching. I am spoiled by the many network websites which offer full episode streaming. Speed looks to only offer snippets of each episode? Can't imagine bandwidth and storage price is an issue.... maybe it's a sponsorship/advert thing.
Being new to this world, any step-by-step How-To's are more than welcome.
I'll run a search on Overhaulin' and a few others which were mentioned.
EDIT:
Episodes of Overhaulin are here, though one needs to register which looks free?

Gearz - but for a fee of 1.99 through amazon - anything to make a buck....

Yeah, that show was really lame the last time I saw it. I think Sr thought he was some kind of action star; building the project was not the focus anymore. I'd like to see them pick a different boneyard each week, and build a car out of nothing but yard parts. Maybe have two teams doing it and race them at the end.Last edited by falconvan; 02-15-2010 at 02:08 PM.

yep. it's good thing the show is gone.. for an episode a few years ago, they came to the ski slope I used to work in, and came thru the dept I worked in.. while, they wearn't 'nice' they weren't like the show.. so most of the drama was fake..
I have a few junkyard wars I recorded way back when... scrapheap challange is still going in the UK. can watch them online, just search itLast edited by Matt167; 02-15-2010 at 08:35 PM.

Ted, I'm sure you have more knowledge of working with tools they a lot of guys on this site for sure I'm one.
I have been keeping a daily journal for the last 9 years and I have only missed a few days of no entries, a couple of those times I fell asleep. My daughter wanted me to just write a few things each day, at that time we had one grandson, now we have three. They would be able to read about what I was doing and have something to look back on. I said I could not do anything like that. I was a terrible student in School, I still have trouble with English and it was my hardest Subject and that was the only one that I really tried to understand. I was lost with adverbs, adjectives, adjunctive, conjunctions, pronouns and so forth. The other classes I just wasn't interested in so I didn’t study, I just thought I was so cool it didn't matter.
In my Journal I write about the day’s events and so many times at my age it really comes in handy, if I want to know what happened on a certain day I just look back through the pages and I have the answers. Even though the grammar is not always correct I think they will be able to tell what I'm saying.
My Wife says I use too many comas but it's the best I can do.
I encouraged my daughter to be a very good student and her best Subject was English.
My daughter has written for small town papers, then went on to have her own edition for a Major City, Newspaper.
Today at 63, I want to learn as much as I can about everything relating to home repair to save money. I have always worked on cars but I have never been satisfied with my knowledge, so I’m always checking the sites, looking through magazines. 1988 I drove a 41 Chevy Coupe Street Rod, to Wyoming 1000 miles each way to take a class in Auto upholstering just for my own cars. Unfortunately I had an injury to top all of the other injuries over the previous years and it became hard for me to do what I want but I still have the desire and the dreams. I have a 50 Ford 4 dr. project car that is a driver; I bought it after the previous owner cut the top and lost interest. I have always wanted to cut a top but didn’t have the guts to make the first cut; this car is already at the point of no return. I would like to try to make a Carson top for it, I scour the Internet trying to get as much information as possible. My computer is full of car pictures that I have saved from people working on their projects.
My daughter’s husband is a graduate of one of the most recognized colleges around the Country. I don’t have anything to do with him, I found out real fast that I couldn’t tell him, or show him anything, he claims to be smarter then 98% of the Worlds population. He has not worked for 4 years, my daughter has, so what good does it do for him to be so smart if he does not use his knowledge.
I had a question posted on another site, it had nothing to do with cars but I asked if anyone had this happen to them, that I described happened to me. I started getting opinions and some were rather in a smart-ass manner. I made the mistake of stating I wasn’t asking for opinions then the smart ass’s came on board.
When I was a kid hanging around car guys, someone would refer to a Motor in a car and someone would say a Motor is run by electricity and an Engine is run by gas. Today both are used and it sounds better for me to say Motor but which is correct?
I’ve said it a few times for sure, there are a lot of intelligent people on this site and as I’ve always told my daughter, you don’t have to tell a person how smart you are, people will see that by the way you speak.
The Original Thread was about OCC. I liked the show in the beginning and I even have a OCC Tee Shirt my Wife bought for me. Then it started going way off from trying to show the skills of working with metal, and the paint jobs.
I like it when Bob P. uses big words; I go to the dictionary to find the meaning. A lot can be learned from smart people. So rather then put someone down, why not just try to get the information that you need.
One more thing, I have yet to see any of the really smart guys on this site put someone down.

Very well said Richard!!!
..I'm somewhat new here and I can relate about the smart a****. I have left other sites because of that issue. Too bad some people can't just help out instead of criticizing! And by the way your writing looks just fine to me!....CR
I thought I knew a lot, until I had teenagers!

I check in everyday and some are better than others. I don't think Brent has anything to do with the forum anymore, but I'm not sure. Hopefully as time moves on the forum will get better.
Where is everybody?
