wow...thanks for all the input guys...i just made it back to the states after a 32 hour trip door to door...dead on my feet now...will for sure be looking at the 4.6...Tech are you saying that you would rather have this engine than the 427 cammer..."Behold, what manner of love the father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called sons of God." 1John3:1

At this point, 4.6 DOHC engines and parts are easy to get. The availability of 427 cammer parts - well looking for hen's teeth might be easier. Then if you break it....all the tears.
Now, a 6.8 V10 Ford motor........Cubic inches are never to be discounted plus two more cylinders make life even gooderDave W
I am now gone from this forum for now - finally have pulled the plug

35WINDOW flam-boozled me by showing a photo of a Boss 429. My dream forever has been a Boss in a '56 T-Bird, even over a cammer motor.
Now, for getting back to reality, the 4.6 DOHC would be my choice in an early car, or even a later car for that matter because it's affordable, beautiful and makes good power. But mainly because it's affordable.
Does anybody know what the trans is that's bolted up behind the motor on geoffav's car? That engine/trans unit would be fun in a Miata.Last edited by techinspector1; 06-26-2009 at 01:11 PM.
John's ride to the cemetery, his beloved Billings OK bus, The Baby Elephant!! Traveling in style!! As his service was starting I couldn't figure out what the music was, heavy on a flute in a jaunty...
