dinner with legends of drag racing

tonight after the races<ive been running the tow truck the last few weeks> i was invited to dinner with some well known legends of drag racing. bucky austin, steve plueger, eddy harris <very good artist>, frank aldana ofRCD <race car dynamics>, the o'briens mike and jenette, they own benchmark rv' centers very nice people., cindy gibbs, and the entire crew from buckys car and the plueger & gyger car. can you say COOL!!!!??!?!? been hanging around showing my face for a few years<from working tech and working the track in 06-08> starting to get noticed alot more. the whole weekend was just a total mindblowing deal. i mean meeting your heroes then going to dinner with them and B/S'ing the entire night!? hung out with them until midnight last night. i am so grateful that this happened. the whole time at dinner i was basically wide eyed and open jawed but trying to act as if it was all natural.

i still can belive it happened its almost surreal. an entire weekedn fri-sat-sun hanging out with these guys, yesterday and today when they ran all the pro cars i was standing in between the burnout box seeing 2 fuel funny cars go past you candles lit smoking them and then launching standing 4 feet away fromt hem its the most awesome thing ive ever gotten to do in my life. i mean for years ive went to national events but you only get to get so close. and this weekend i was rght on top of them!

bucky is a real class act very professional and very cool. he has been racing alog tme and winning alog time to.

the guy who drives the plueger & gyger car is a class act. one of the most down to earth awesome guys you will ever meet. his name is garret bateman very cool guy.

these cars run 98% nitro, single mag, 6-71 blower.

today garret and crew ripped off a 5.88 at 232 !

Sounds like it was a real blast. You got some memories you won't ever forget. I love to be around people who do their thing well, I keep hoping some of it will rub off.

Standing between two fuel funny cars when they launch has to rate right up there with the most amazing things I've ever experienced. It's as if every molecule in your body is jumping all around trying to get out.

I made the mistake of being between Rick Ramsey and John Wiebe during qualifying at Indy one year!!!!!!!and that was when we used our own bottles of VHT---had it all over my hand(Keeling generally did the pouring for the burnout while I went downtrack for the PUSHBACK (before reversers) couldn't stick my fingers in my ears because of the VHT, but it also happened so fast that I couldn't have done it anyway---and of course, since it was a burnout , they really didn't shoot off down track but sorta sat there and killed me----What did you say???seems to be loud ringing noise here
