    Anybody know Chip Foose personally??

If so, I'd like to get in touch with him via email or whatever. Reason is, I ran into a nice 30-ish guy tonight and struck up a conversation because he had a cool motorcycle outside his work, scallops and all that neat stuff. I told him we play with hot rods and he starts telling me about a '50 Merc his Dad has that he built in 1960, a traditional Merc custom, shaved doors, etc.

Sad part is, his Pop has Cancer and they don't know how much longer he has. The Son wrote a letter to Chip asking for the car to be restored on Overhaulin', and he said he hopes they would choose his Dads ride to do a makeover. He had tears in his eyes when he was telling me the story, so I know it isn't one of those stories you wonder if they are true on Overhaulin', where the guy is "very surprised" that his Wife got in touch with Foose.

It bothered me all the way home, and I thought maybe someone on here has some idea how I could contact Chip to maybe add some fuel to the fire, so to speak. The guy said it would blow his Dad's mind if this were ever to happen to him, and I would love to see this one come true. I figured with some of the heavy hitters we have on this forum, someone might know someone who knows someone.

    Thanks guys.

I know the Overhaulin cars are going to be at the Wings Wheels and Rotors show in Los Alametos (sp) So. Cal. next Sun.
I'll pm you an email address of someone that had their car done on Overhaulin and maybe she can point you in the right direction

MM64, thanks for that link........I'll try it. Bobby, yep, I keep waiting for someone to "surprise" me too.

I bet some of the ones we see on there have set it up with the Wife to get their car done for them, some just look too phony. But there is no question in my mind this guy is the real deal........he had nothing to gain by telling me about his Dad other than we were just shooting the breeze. I just thought it would be great if Chip or one of his people heard about this story. The neat part is that the Dad has had this car for about 48 years, and it has been a custom all that time, but has fallen into disrepair and he doesn't have the money (nor does the Son) to fix it up.

We'll see what happens, I believe good things happen to good people sometimes.

I think kenny d knows him, and he'll be here in Vegas in a couple weeks, touch base with him, or PM me the info and if I run across him at SEMA I'll put the pitch on him.

Don i believe in the goods things to . Hope this happens for him sounds like a well deserving man and a great car to do it with also . To have a son with this much pride for his father is a blessing . You know that part your sons are terrific now but remember where you tools went LOL just kidding there . This would be a challenge for the Foose clan not a Mustang , Chevelle or Vette to be done .

That's terrific, Bob. I don't even know this guy's name, but I know he manages a local store, so I could call and find out all the info. I'll do that tomorrow.

I realize this is kind of a shot in the dark deal, but nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Bobby, the guy kept telling me details of how they wanted to buy his Dads Merc for that Stallone movie where they used a Merc. (I forget the name) But he said when his Dad found out they were going to wreck it he said no way.

Thanks for all the input guys.

Maybe one of the so-cal members could drop by and talk to him says shop hours are only 12pm-1pm mon-friday. somebody close to huntington with an hour lunch could probably make it over there.

I love the show when I'm able to catch it, I think Chip is a good guy. the show has always seemed to me as though most of the people on there knew somebody affiliated with it. and definitely they have all been local cars that I have seen. Chip is frickin' brilliant.

Bobby D., you've probably already watched the movie,s o know it is better than just the cars. I wish it had showed him driving his hotrod. do you happen to know what year that is?

    PS
I love that move in Cobra where he spins the car into reverse and fires out the window (at least I remember that happening, but it has been over a decade since I watched it).

Uncle Bob....Mr. Foose is not going to talk to you at SEMA...
.....he saw the picture of you at SEMA 2006 standing next to the 24" wheel covered with rhinestones. Your taste in wheels is forever suspect!

If we had Chip's e-mail we could all send an e-mail asking for his help, maybe some of the guys on the other car sites as well. If we all sign on it would be a numbers thing.

Sorry Don, but the show was canceled in Sept. I don't know if it was picked up by another network.

I wonder if pimp my ride would do a mild nice job, versus something extreme! Nice to see you looking out for this guy and his dad, Don. Maybe Mr. Ken will have an idea, since he lives closer to where all these shows are filmed.

For what it's worth - there's to be some sort of anouncement this weekend on the Powerblock (Spike) and it deals with Foose. I have NO info other than what I saw last Sunday. Maybe there's hope, since Courtney had a Foose shirt on.
