    The Tata Nano!

    This is a Tata Nano:

The Nano will be launched in India later in 2008, with a base price of $2500.00 . The car will be available in both standard and deluxe versions. Both versions will offer a wide range of body colors, and other accessories so that the car can be customized to an individual's preferences.

Their website (http://tatanano.inservices.tatamotors.com/tatamotors/) claims it can comfortably seat four persons.
Also, that with a length of 3.1 meters, width of 1.5 meters and height of 1.6 meters, with adequate ground clearance, it can effortlessly maneuver on busy roads in cities as well as in rural areas.

The Nano has a rear-wheel drive, all-aluminum, two-cylinder, 623 cc, 33 PS, multi point fuel injection petrol engine. This is the first time that a two-cylinder gasoline engine is being used in a car with single balancer shaft.

So my question is how the heck are our grandchildren going to Kustomize or Hot Rod this darn thing in 50 years?

Hot rod it in 50 years? There won't be anything left of it in ten!! Probably be ready to recycle it when the last payment is due.

Could be challenging to shoe-horn a big block into it but I'm sure it could be done Could make a pretty good (if not butt-ugly) wheel-stander...

Are these other Countries trying too killing us off sooner then our time? I could see a load of those going too Florida the seniors trading their Cadillac’s then driving away from the Toys R-US where they sell them in the toy department. They wouldn’t make it past the first right turn.

He's right. Think about how many Yugo's and Fiesta's you see on the road.

But if you want to hotrod it, there is a lot of greenhouse there, so let's lower the lid about 5 inches in the front, 6 in the rear to get a little better rake on the lid. Air bags on on 4 so we can put in the weeds, and maybe a few louvers in the hood and flames on the sides. Oh, and some baby moons for those ugly ass wheels.

Of course they probably won't ever be sold in the US, at least not at that price. Would have to add another $10k just to pay off all of the government officials to let it in.

By the way, Tata also now ownes Jaguar and Land Rover. Not a small business.

The one that is already here, is the Smart for Two. Three models, two hardtops starting at about $11500, and one roadster is $16500. 61 cu in engine, inline 3 cyl, 4 valves per cyl, paddle shifting, 70hp at 5800 rpms, top speed 90 mph. Built by M-B. Excellent roll cage to protect occupants. Kind of cute, but damn small. You can put two into one parking space. 1/2 length of a Lincoln Continental and 40 inches shorter than a Mini Cooper. Potential passengers should not be claustrophobic.

How about the Statue of Liberty? One thing in 120+ years isn't a complete failure!

Wasn’t there some controversies over that either the US didn’t want too accept it or give it back? My memory is short but I believe there was some bickering over it.
