    Neat. But at what point do you go when using a person/flag starter? When his arms first move or when they touch his legs?

    That looks just like we did up in northern Minn back about 57-58 except for the cars of course

    Flag racing you go at the first twitch of the flag. Used to be an art reading the flag guys. They kept changing moves all the time. Very advanced was the button that the flag rested on and the red light observers. More than one altercation broke out haha.

    The locale and scenery reminds me of 1956-57 at Charleston, RI. The strip was a USN auxilary (sp?) base. Same deal - set up Sunday morning, everything had to be taken down by nightfall so they could land planes on Monday. The race track was about a mile long landing strip.. No trees anywhere around the landing strip, just like the scenery in your video. Hay bales for spectator protection. Had a great time back then. Had the flag starters too, lights were not yet available. Very crude clocks.
