Has Denny been around today? Just reread his last post from our discussion last night;

I, for one, hope not. I look at this forum nearly every day. I enjoy it because, for the most part, there is very little B.S. I look forward to everyone's advice, and Tech, Denny and many others are outstanding contributors. So maybe we should let sleeping dogs lie and let things settle a little bit. Everyone has the right to be an a$$hole sometimes. Sometimes we all abuse the privilege. (that remark is NOT directed at any one person, but rather all of us)

Ouch. I don't think you're to blame Dave, I don't think anyone was to 'blame'.....just two people getting on each others nerves a bit.....it happens in the best of families unfortunately.
I too come on here nearly every day, and I've learnt a lot from both Richard and Denny, I enjoy their posts, and would be sorry to see either of them leave.

Let's hope they can bury the hatchet. (And not in each other's heads!)

Amen to that, Johnboy. Denny has helped me several times when I've run up against a problem with my FE (390).

Hmmmmm. I thought I would send Denny a PM and ask if he is ok, and it looks like he has pulled his PM box from his profile. I know he had one because he and I have PM'd each other before, and just a couple of days ago I asked him for a torque spec and he replied back.

Maybe he needed a little r & r, and decided to step back for a while. At least I hope that is the only reason he has disappeared into the ether. His experience and knowledge would be a terrible thing to lose.

well i hope that you did not do it ? i hope denny comes back?? i like talking to him , he did give many his time .so maybe he needs some time off .i can see at times somethings need to be said . or some times walk a way .if he walk away i for one hope he will find has way back for the many on here looking for help

Denny is a very smart guy---BUT---He's also a very touchy guy. He seems to get his nose out of joint pretty friggin easily. He has taken his marbles and went home a few other times before this.

I think you have to have a degree of skin thickness to post on these forums, because lots of other people are going to have opinions that are 180 out of phase of your own. There have been times when someone said something that got under my skin a little too, so I understand how Denny might just need to take a deep breath and maybe take some time away.

I think Denny is not only a very smart, experienced car guy, but is also a sensitive person, and takes things to heart. While I have come to respect him and like him as a person, I think some of what Brian says is true. His feelings just seem to get hurt sometimes. I hope he gets through this one and decides to come back.

It is very hard to get someones intentions across in writing! Facial expressions and tone of voice cannot be written A few months back Brian mistook something I replyied to about taking a shifter out of a car and using it in a rod. I said I wouldnt do that again because I was 'all grown up' now. The truth being the last time I went under a car in a yard I met MR Woodchuck up close and personal and just about chit myself While sometimes I like to get under peoples skin I dont intend to hurt them-I think alot of guys are like that!

Ther's been alot of people who have helped me out since I joined, but Denny has helped me more than most. He's a sensitive guy and has feelings just like you and I, and he sure knows what he's talking about. Take a look at his threads, over 10,000 and most are for helping people. I hope he hasn't left us because I for one will miss him

well i think any one that has posted as much as denny and other would have a heart? to take the time to help someone out? or to care to post any thing? or just sit back and say tough for you i just do not give a dam ?not to help some out with a problem? there could be heath issue or money issue or both that keep some one from working on there dream car or truck ? so helping someone could be the next best thing for them? i try not to blast any one but it can happen

On a couple of boards I am on this would have been locked. I just put some people on my ignore list and that works for me.The cam wear ,and lifter wear has been going on since I built my first eng in 1955. I have never lost a lifter or cam lobe ,with over 500 engs built. This will continue long after I am gone.

with all do respect what are you saying? over 500 engine and never lost a flat lifter cam? boy you are dam lucky ? you every put a cam in any big block chevys ? i have seen them wipe a cam in the start up ? and back in 55 they did not use china lifters

no disrespect. I have built engs for a long time, first were olds,then chevy, then ford.Never have i lost a bearing or oil pump. I scuffed one piston in a 645 hp dyno run with a 351 w. bent a valve in a 8000 rpm 302 drag motor from a missed shift. I take undue care on assy.Like in a hospital. Is it luck, or just attention to detail? I am there on first start up, and don't take any bs about what to do.Its probably luck. Having said that I might go buy a lottery ticket. lol. OBTW, never built a bbc.
