An artilcle today in the Washington Post shows the power of the voter on this issue:

An online petition against Virginia's steep new "abusive driver" fees—some of which can top $1,000—neared 100,000 signatures, accelerating lawmakers' calls for the General Assembly to rescind them before voters go to the polls Nov. 6. Many lawmakers say they are being deluged with comments from constituents opposed to the fees, which are aimed at drunk and reckless drivers.

If only our hobby could get such a response, maybe states wouldn't be rushing to crush vintage tin.
