Hi,
I found this forum a couple weeks ago and I think I've become dependent on it already. I've made a couple posts on the tech forum and I check in every day to see what's new so I thought I'd introduce myself.
I don't have a decent pic of myself right now, but I have a few of my car. Check out my web pages at www.nucwa.com/page2.html .
There's a link on the first page to my coupe and if you're into old cars, there are a lot of downloads on the first four pages.

I'm a little depressed. tomorrow iz' the first test N' tune.
Last fall at the Nationals there were a few records set there. Right after the race they tore up the track and resurfaced it. This spring they brought in a machine to plane the surface flat ..... supposedly flat to within 1/8" - laser guided. Talked to my bud that grooms the track. They clean it with tide, "who knew" then rinse it over N' over til it sueeky clean. Then drag old slicks back n' forth to groom the surface. Tomorrow's test n' tune will break it in a little more. It'll be interestin' to see what kinda' times they run this year. New track might be a little slower til it get broke in more. They keep that place lookin' puuuurdy' good.:) :) :) :)
Hey Pro, yer kid and the dragster look great...... A garage at the dragstrip??? Man, we used to go to Thunder Valley real early so we could get a shady spot under the trees!!!!!

Would you like to add your Starlite Coupe project to my Visitor's Projects Page on my website, 1950 Studebaker Retro-Rod Project ?
http://www.angelfire.com/super/1950bulletnose
Site also has Studebaker Streetrod Cars, Studebaker Streetrod Trucks and Studebaker Doorslammer (dragster) Galleries.
Anyway, just a thought, always looking for more Studebaker content for my site.

I didn't think I had any recent pictures but I forgot about this one. It was taken at my sons wedding 8/11/02. I'm the guy with the blue vest. Notice the band-aid on the skinned knuckle. My son Bill is the one with the big grin. on my left is Johhny Rotten. He rides the "Wall of Death" on a motorcycle. The bald guy is the best man Ed. He's a logger and next to him is "Bubba" the tree surgeon. Sorry it's so grainy but it didn't scan well. We all rode the 12 miles to the church in my unregistered 1960 Bently. We took a picture beside the Bently but it didn't come out very good. I've never seen any of them in a tux before or since. None of us really look that good in person.
Here's one from a local car cruise. One of my first a few years ago.

Well here's an old picture from a British Car Meet at Berkeley Plantation, VA (where the locals say the REAL First Thanksgiving occurred!). Apparently it was 1991 with an 8/92 inspection sticker on the '73 MG Midget with chrome bumpers and round rear wells (the ultimate in Midgets!) with new Dupont acrylic paint and a 3/4 race engine; line bored. I kept the car four years and restored the gauges, upholstery, top, gas tank, transmission etc. to essentially 100%. However with Va annual inspection I had to replace wheel bearings, rear shoes and front rotors three (3) times! I drove it to/from work 26 miles round trip 6 days a week. At the Meet they told me I was not supposed to actually drive the car, just keep it in storage for the annual meet! Either the repro parts are of low quality or the whole design was of low quality because with an American car I never remember replacing wheel bearings more than once in 100,000 miles. As you can see there is no need to chop/channel a Midget and one gets used to seeing 18 wheel trucks in the next lane viewed from their undercarriage (I am 5'10"). Alas when I had the flywheel chopped the guy at the machine shop took metal off the FACE of the flywheel as well as the edges and I also went through three (3) clutches in three years since there was little travel left in the clutch linkage. Finally the "clearanced" crank with only three main bearings broke in the middle and I limped home on the back two cylinders. I sold the car for 1/4 of my investment and the guy who has it now drives it once a month and takes it to shows after replacing the engine with a low mileage stocker. Now I am working on a Brookville frame for a '29 Ford roadster with SBC350/TH350/8" rear and hope to get you a better picture soon with that car.
