WOW, what some jobs. I always thought my job was boring, but compared to yall, its more boring than I thought.

I am VP/General Manger for a small trucking company (50 trucks/110 drivers). We transport only the US Mail.

i drive a cement truck for my dads business trying to make some money before i head off to school to become a diesel mechanic. i also run a vw repair shop out of my garage for extra money. all is going pretty well. im 19, so it will be quite a while before i retire.

Never know, you could manage things right and have a very busy garage and retire and let others work for you.

this is what my grandfather tells me. he has done really well in the stock market and worked really hard. he is now retired living in idaho. he just built a big house and an even bigger shop. hes doing pretty well, but doesnt seem to like retirement. he never says it but he always finds some work to do. building patios, building motors, etc. i guess after working for 50+ years you get accustomed to always working, and when you retire, it's like, "now what?".

id rather not own my own shop, it is too much hassle even with my small vw shop. id rather work for somebody like CAT and run my dads trucking business when he retires. personally, i like work. im bored out of my skull when there isnt any. i dont like it when people lump my generation all together. not all of us are lazyass freeloaders thinking life is like that on mtv. sorry, dont know how i went off on that tangent.

A guy asked Woody Allen what he did for work.

He said that he helped the strippers put their costumes
on at the Bijou Theatre

The guy asked how much money the job brought in.

Woody said $150 a week.

The guy said "that's not much!"

Woody said "that's all I can afford to give them"

I'm a Ski/ Snowboard boot Authorized Rentals Technician, I work at Hunter Mtn, actully only Authorized thru Burton Snowboard company ( they gave us work shirts that say Burton Authorized Technician ), but were indemnefied by all of our equipment suppliers, except OVO helmet company, as they are out of buisnuess, but we still have little over 1k OVO helmets.

Last 5 months.............NOTHING

Starting a new job on Monday...Plant Manager , small fastener company.

I am a design engineer, specializing in the design of prototype machinery and factory automation. I worked from 1965 untill 2002 for big engineering firms, and since 2002 I have my own design engineering company www.rupnowdesign.com . Right now I seem to be spending more time dicking around on hotrod websights giving 'unsolicited advice' than anything---business is slow getting started this year. ---Brian

71/76 Refrigeration engineer (ammonia)for cold storage company
68/71 Refrigeration instalation (ammonia & freon) maintainence in several
packing houses in stock yards Chicago
Before that I worked in machine shop as maintanence mechanic/electrician/plumber/anything that was broken.
college for Mechanical engineering didn't finish as Kids started showing up.
In the time I had after work and between jobs I built cars, repaired cars, and just got greasy.
I know I missed some but this isn't a job app. IS IT
This mounth I get my first S.S. check

Three jobs in my life:

- Corporate VP, Engineering of a major natural gas company. (No, not Enron, although I worked for a division of Enron that was sold off in the late 1980's - thank God.)

- President of a small machine design and fabrication business designing and building automated plant machinery. (How 'bout that, Brian?)

- Planner-in-charge for airfield facilities at Naval Station Norfolk.

I own an auto repair shop that was opened somewhere around 1928 by Grandpa then inherited by my Dad and then myself. Been a mechanic all my life and never wanted to do any thing else. Spent most weekends since high school strapped into some kinda circle burner untill 3 years ago when I retired from racin and started building my coupe. Of course 3 years sounds like a long time to be building a hotrod but that dang youngest kid (15) decided he wanted to go back racing after he retired from 1/4 midgets @ age 12. Well we started racing 600cc micro sprints last year and he won the championship so we are moving to sprint cars this year. Guess the coupe will get done when I find some extra time as I gotta keep Momma Worrell's favorite boy from getting crippled or killed from mechanical failures

was a retired millionaire, then got married lost the million, worked as a heavy equipment adjuster for insurance company, now I'm a telecommunications tech and work for my younger brother

As a kid delivered news papers, worked on farms, and worked in gas stations.

Four years in US Navy as electrician on sub tender.

Worked in the following jobs for Northeast Utilities:
*5 years as gas/electric serviceman
*7 years electrician in nuclear plant
*11 years electrical maintenance supervisor same plant
*9 years senior engineering technologist same plant
*Retired in 1998 - Life is very good!
