The wiring was/is melted to some control cables behind the dash too. The main reason I had to ditch the HVAC box was it had an ear that hung out behind the RH head and the head was hitting it. So bye bye broken stuff and now I have to save more money.

Seems like a guy has to choose between rust or melted plastic. I hear you on the new stuff not fitting, most stuff is awful. When I started gathering a few parts for that car I found a very cheap OER dash for sale, but he wouldn't ship it because the buyer had to come in person and see for themselves how poorly it fit. The used one I put in there is a bit sticky but It is a good start for a dash cap. I'm going to be in Des Moines Aug 3 but it's going to be a drive down there, take care of some business and drive back type of day. One of these time I'm going to have to stop by and see if the Camaro remembers me
