Since you live in Texas and the '33 plate is from Tennessee, you can only be asking for advice on how to handle your wall art, which you choose to term "wallpaper"? I'd say it doesn't matter to anyone but you. If you want to maintain any value of the old plates, don't screw around with them at all, just hang them on the wall. If you want to "improve" the look, which is only to your eye, then by all means "clean it up" to suit yourself. Wall art is subjective. It's your wall, your art, and you only need to please yourself.

A question or 2------------are you changing to an external balance crankshaft/flywheel/dampner? the later blocks are good choice because of the roller lifter stuff but do require strokers to be external balance or lots of heavy metal--------unless you use an rear seal adapter for the 2 piece seal and oil pan------I still have several from when I bought the remaining KaTech stock-------

Very nice! Did you hurt the original engine or did you just want to upgrade?

Wow, yet another Chinese parts horror story. I’ve never heard of heads failing quite like that.
...............
There's a big aftermarket diesel parts builder in Texas. When he started having heads cast in China they had the same issues. The metal just crumbled when you torqued the head studs. If you ported them they would almost disintegrate and go through the engine. It was a bad deal because a bare head was $2400 at the time. Now, on the other side of that coin...... I've been using stock casted 5.9 12v heads that come from China and I've had really, really good luck with them. Where's that balsa to knock on?
.
We tried an 8.3 Cummins head from China once, that cost us and the customer a lot of money. It was on for one year and the valves went through the seats and the guides were junk. We ended up buying a used Cummins head and rebuilt that one and throwing the China one away.

Sorry to hear about the wife. Hope she's on the mend... And you're right, the car don't mean a thing if someone in the family is hurting.
I hope it was a freak thing and nothing serious. I don't understand the not going to the hospital part until I look back on my life and remember all the things I've " walked off ". We people can be stubborn.Quote:
She refused to go to the hospital which made for a long evening.
I'm the same. One of the hardest things I've done is to dial 911 for my wife. In my situation it was for the best, because she ended up in ICU. It's not a fun situation, and every case is unique.
